i dont' know if i can really hear a difference because i'm so distracted by the high gauge of the wire,

i like it thick baby

i felt like i got a cheap pedal board cable thin but it's 20 feet long,

i was not under that impression when i bought it

sounds fine, i'm just afraid about durability etc given it's all of 3/8" thick or less

your thoughts?

this was the instrument 2, given i wasn't about to spend 2 grand on a pro, or even 800 or whatever on the 3

discuss

i guess i love analysis plus, beefy construction and great cable for the right reasons as well

also love dem sommer cables, grindy cop beast and the stratos used to be my thing

also cornish, till it shitted out on me, i was very very pleased with it

anyways

if you want you can say stuff like

i like cables too

like gotham audio

or cornish

or lava van den hul which again no one should be able to afford

idk

regards

Mogami Platinum has been the best cable I've purchased so far

Im all about the Mogami cables. Made a Canare cable a month ago and didnt like it much. seems to add something to the tone like an upper midrange bump. No Bueno

2 grand for a cable? I think that makes very little sense if your guitar costs less than 50-100K

No one should be able to afford? Why? :)

I use Vovox cables BTW. Although I recently made some guitar and speaker cables with some simple, relatively cheap Klotz cable and Neutrik connectors. To my ears it has a slight edge over the Vovox.

Cables are one of those things that, past a certain price point, the difference is so minimal. Just get some good quality name brands like Planetwaves, D'addario, Fender, George L etc... and you can't go wrong. No need at all to spend 2 grand on them!

I agree, however, I'd probably dish out a little more for Mogami or George L, etc.

Or make my own with some good quality bulk cable. Soldering is pretty easy to learn, and you can make as many as, and in whatever length you need.

Hello
Please your sugest.
Explain me detailed which the different between Sommer Stratos Grindycop Spirit LLX.
Which brighter Stratos or Grindy.
Which have better detailed.
I know that LLX have low capacitance but hovewer capacitance is not enough import in nice sound.
Where I can buy cable 1.5 m quit made with Neutrich plugs.
Kind regards

My Besttronics cabling stomped my Mogami by miles.

The BTPA also measures at half the capacitance compared to Canare, etc.

Cannot recommend BTPA cabling enough.

That's the cable I bought in bulk to make my own, along with Neutrik connectors.

Oh nice! Neutriks, so just instrument cables then, no patch to go along with it?
Nope, when I was building my Helix Rack rig with the foot controller, cables to run to the expression pedals, to the interface, to the monitors, etc, I just bought all Neutrik connectors for instrument and xlr. I was gonna let the Helix do all the "pedal'ing" so no need for patch cables.

My guess is that this new Similar Threads "feature" at the bottom of the page is causing people to bump old threads

Or was that on purpose :D

I love my mogami platinum, and mogami gold is good. But whatever @RedB4Black is using is my favorite.

For tone I like the mogami golds, and for the actual guitar to first pedal cable I like the older versions with the smaller non-neutrik ends.

For flexibility and durability I like my old Ibanez custom gold-tips 22ft. cable. I've had it for 20+ years and it would be my choice as the guitar cable for live performance/practice. It is thick but lays nicely.

since we're necro bumping stuff

obviously the analysis plus cable that's 10 feet long for 7619.99 pre tax and shipping is worth mentioning for absurdity

over a decade along i generally just use proco branded sweetwater cables or mogami or canare if anyone wanted to know

I been using the Sommer Spirit LLX instrument cables for years. They're very low capacitance cables and sound good in 10', 15', 20', those are the only lengths I tried so far before yet, but I'm impressed. Even in the 20 footer I can't detect no loss of highs or clarity. Not super expensive, about $74 for a 10 footer and $97 for a 15 footer. Sound great and durable.
