Since the career move I'm considering will have me flying a LOT, I'm curious what it's like as I've never flown.
Get treated like crap. Get pissed. Go to jail.It fucking sucks. I'll never do it again willingly.
I try not to assumeContext clues suggest the latter![]()
Don't forget the crummy food.Have you ever ridden a bus? With the exception of security, takeoff and landing, it's pretty much the same experience.
They're even crashing together on the ground now. "Where did that plane come from!"I've flown only a small handful of times. The last time I did was around 2010. Something fell off the wing on approach, the plane landed sideways and I said never again. It seems to have only gotten worse since then with shit falling off and half the planes being held together by duct tape.
Current FAA & Dept. Transportation will get you killed for sure.I've flown only a small handful of times. The last time I did was around 2010. "you peons should just get rich like me. Did i mention in every post yet that I'm rich? Pass the caviar and grey poupon Jeeves"As other's have said, it's like a bus until you get status and can upgrade. Stick to the same airline to rack up miles, and join their frequent flyer program. Avoid the cheap airlines like Jet Blue, Southwest, Spirit, unless you enjoy the "EBT crowd cultural enrichment" experiences.
I did international travel for work as a consultant for over a decade, and domestic travel for close to two decades; +1 million miler on one airline, several hundred thousand miles on a few others.
It's getting worse IMO. I'm 6' 5", and coach seats are painful...I try to get aisle or middle seats if I'm in coach for a little more leg room; window seats are the worst, I can't sit up straight without tilting (or hitting) my head or upper body due to the curvature of the wall, which also cuts into legroom and space for my feet.
I'd like to travel internationally again, and I was before covid....my 10-year visa to China recently expired, but the cost for non-coach seats vs stuck in coach with 20 hours of air time + layovers is enough to put me off. I can use points on some airlines, but it's usually off peak seasons, and to get peak season point travel you have to book too far in advance.
Good luck. Pack lots of pepto bismol tablets
Just curious, what are the Pepto tablets for?As other's have said, it's like a bus until you get status and can upgrade.
