Gear you just cannot get along with, despite numerous attempts?

Mesa Mark III's. They have a certain frequency that grates on me after a bit. Had 2 blue stripes and a purple. Purple was better but still no bueno. Loved my IIB Coli and my VII though.

As far as things that get raved about:

EVH 50 6L6
Celestion G12-65
MXR Carbon Copy
Any type of EQ device in loop (acceptable in front)
BKP pickups
RFT 12AX7’s
All Sovtek tubes
Anything with Strymon name on it (adds instant suck to your dry signal)
Floyds

I never had a Tele growing up and when I got back into playing and buying gear several years ago, I thought I was missing something. I bought an Esquire, a Mexican Tele, a G&L ASAT, and some other T-shaped piece of shit. They're just not for me.

SSS Strats. I think every guitarist should have a Stratocaster and I'm not even being hyperbolic. I think the sound is something you need and I know most of my audience is here for high gain and I'm still not being hyperbolic. And I fucking hate Strats. And I'm sure I'm not done buying Strats.

Those pine Classic Vibes, if you put some Gotoh saddles on them so they intonate, are decent. The pickups aren't awesome but they go OK with the pine. The frets wear fast but at least they're decently tall.

I bought a really nice Ibanez once thinking I would love it and I just didn't. The neck felt small and cramped and I just didn't warm up to that guitar as beautiful as it was..................:dunno:
Same here. I bought a beautiful blue prestige RG7635261738394039272616262 (or something like that) and the thin flat neck actually made my hand hurt. Bought an RG Genesis and the tone was just bad. Tried several others and none sounded good with me playing them.

I can agree on most Ibanez, although they have models like the George Benson sig that have nothing to do with the RGs.

US Jackson, though, that's a hill I'll die on. A Kelly KE2 with EMGs (especially 81TW/89) and stainless frets is the greatest practical gigging axe ever. You could offer me whoever to make me whatever, and I'd tell them what color to paint my Kelly.

I guess I really only mean that I don’t like the wide thin necks. At all. Actually, hate them.

I cant really do any Gibson guitars. All not ergonomic at all.

I also cant do Ibanez / Jackson / Etc... anymore. I love superstrats, but cant do the wide thin necks.

Mesa Boogie Mark IV (owned 5+ years)
Mesa Boogie Lone Star
Dual Recs except for Tremoverb, which is amazing

Any amp with a weak or sterile clean channel

Gibson guitars in general. Most of my heroes growing up played Gibsons, but I just don't really like the scale length, the painted/finished necks, etc. (I'm particular about necks....about the only thing I'm particular about!)

Ironically, my first good guitar was a Gibson Explorer I played all the way through high school at numerous gigs, but once I traded it for a super strat, I've remained with those since. I've never actually purchased another Gibson, though I've played plenty.

The discussion on strats above, I understand. I've never owned a real one, but have an '87 Jackson strat set up S/S/S that I loaded with Bardens and it's been my strat since. Sounds great, but there are limited use cases for the bridge single for me. I did wire it to the tone and the rest are not connected to the tone....also, has a Floyd and nice Jackson neck.

Same, it's probably the one "gear thing" i'm most picky about

I hate the super distortion. It's probably the pickup that I hate the most out of all the aftermarket stuff out there

The 36th annis aren't bad though, just other stuff i prefer for that sound
The Super Distortion always sounds like it is missing one thing that would make it complete. I can't even put my finger on what it is. It is like it doesn't quite get where it should be.

I disagree, I've specifically made my sound be everything BUT the strat sound 😂

Any guitar without a HT or gibson style fixed bridge. I know its limiting, but I can't have a floating bridge of any kind. I dig in too hard and the strings need to be firmly anchored to the wood for me to feel good about the resonance.

I am done with telecasters.

Just sold my American Pro Tele yesterday, had 4 other various teles before that.

For a simple guitar, the three barrel saddle is an absolute shit-show to dial in anywhere near good.

Plinking/buzzing son-of-a whore! Mine needed nut/fret/and major fall away work to get action down.

Fuck em! If you enjoy playing these cork-soakers.....have at it!

PS.....G.A.S will kick in again, and i will forget the pains, and I will probably pick up a 6 saddle version in near future.....lol
Go for it :D
