Gear you just cannot get along with, despite numerous attempts?

The Super Distortion always sounds like it is missing one thing that would make it complete. I can't even put my finger on what it is. It is like it doesn't quite get where it should be.

I have a Super Distortion in a couple of guitars. It works well in them, but there are other guitars where it just doesn't work that well. Really though, that's most pickups in my experience.

I tried it in a mahogany/bolt guitar and I hated it. I threw it in a drawer for a few years. I decided to pull it out earlier this year and throw it in an old Ibanez RG I keep tuned in B. Instant old Carcass tones. It sounds great in that guitar.

I disagree, I've specifically made my sound be everything BUT the strat sound 😂

I re-read what I wrote several times and I'm wondering why I think everyone needs that strat sound. I def won't be recording with it lol. But I don't mind the quack.

PRS guitars, I have had a Core 594, core DGT, and a Fiore. I do not get a long with them.

That's fair enough, i just hate the blues, and hate 99% of all guitar sounds ccreated with a strat so its just like

Why would i "need" one XD

Ever listen to Adrian Belew?

In my opinion, this strat sound is the sound to rule all strats. You just don’t hear this kind of mean rawness in metal.

I've said this before but Hughes and Kettner Grandmeister 40 and Black Spirit 200. Both of then have a harsh grainy character that couldn't be pin pointed to dial out. They good versatile amps but don't have the kind of distortion I need

6505's.....way too many mids

Usually for the more aggressive shit the all tube Marshalls didn't do what I wanted .
But recently I got an '09 Jcm 2000 Dsl 100 and I was really impressed. Boosted with the red Maxon od.....good shit👍🏻
+1
Hate the mids and grind of original Peavey 5150/6505. Tried a few times. Funny, because I love the SLO it was derived from.

A good DSL is pretty darn good. Wish I had kept the one I had back in 2010. Beat out a Soldano Hot Rod 50 and Splawn Street Rod. Actually preferred it to a Slash 2555SL. Tried many DSLs since, and they have all had issues. TSL and JVM weren't as good, imo.

Vox AC30, too much piercing volume for anything I do. Blissful when cranked with a band. Brutal at home. Have had the AC30CC2, AC30hw, and a rare Mayfly BC30 (Canadian boutique Vox/Matchless type thing, under 100 made). The Mayfly was the best rock tone when cranked. Think Trainwreck. Hated to let it go, but could never open it up.
