As the title states, I wanted to add a clean to my Jose mode Marshall NMV JC800. Since I got the amp cheap ~$750 and it was already non original modded, i didn’t hold back. All controls are in the front.

I got a populated board from him and an additional relay board. Per his recommendation I got a compact DC power supply RAC20-12SK. This saved a lot of time.

It’s late here in Japan. So I had just a minute to fire it up. It’s probably one of the best cleans I’ve heard in a channel switcher. Can’t wait to jam more in the morning.

just drilled the back and installed a proper foot switch. Only had a toggle last night

This is me cheapest guitar with ToneNerd Morning Woods unpotted A2. No bright switch on the clean

Nicely done! When you change channels, are the diodes still active across the master? Or are they switched too?

The Add-a-Clean is an entirely separate preamp, all the way up to the phase inverter, or loop, if you’re using one.

It has its own master and EQ. In fact, it has a built in mute for the gain channel. It sends the overdrive preamp to ground at the first stage. So the overdrive preamp becomes totally inactive while the clean is engaged. It prevents bleed over and crosstalk issues that cause noise in the clean channel. Likewise, the clean preamp is automatically muted when the gain channel is engaged.

The entire clean preamp is about the size of an LND150 fx loop. Just a tad bigger. But very compact. It uses a separate board for the pots and tone stack. Makes install clean and easy.

I’d like to add that I used your alternative suggestion for relay powering and DC heaters. I used it for powering the board the add on loop relay board and V1 of the gain channel.

RAC20-12SK

They are such convenient power supplies. Clean install on that one….

I recently designed a PCB for the Recom. I added a spot for an LED as a status indicator.

I also designed a PCB for the larger RACM30 Recom unit. Those have a 2.5a output.
