I gotta chime in, this is very very true. I have a 2005 Quick rod 3 pre NO gears with Heyboer transformers. It SLAYS, and it destroys the 2009 4 preamp gear version quickrod i used to own WAY back.
Difference in sound for 2005 is more usable and not too crazy mid dominant vs 2009 is honky...
I have used a RockCrusher for like 5yrs and I have loved it. I live in a condo so it fits perfect for me. I've posted countless clips online facebook and youtube etc. Never really had anyone EVER even notice but had many many positive feedback comments on the tones.
It is very very nice, lots of mids but upper mid dominance. It has that fizzy high that is smooth but searing, but you get a raw sounding amp. Not as polished sounding as the XTC.
Yeah man, that too. My initial post was moreso with regards to channel 2 and 3, but channel 1 is really cool plexi to jcm 800 gain tones, I think this channel is supposed to be a plexi or something not sure exactly. Yes, it takes very well to an old SD 1 and it is super 80's hard rock / thrash...
Yes, that is true, maybe I should clarify what I mean. Treble like 3 O'clock and higher and Mids at 2 O'clock with Presence around 2 O'clock are getting into the higher extreme settings of high end when compared to other amps that I have owned or tried. So I just had to use ears tweaking and...
Has anyone else tried or owned one of these, and can chime in on their findings for tweaking for a more raw/brighter sound?
I am a fairly new owner, and prefer raw/brighter sounds vs typical Friedman smooth refined sounds. So when I got this, I figured it was going to sound too dark for my...
Appreciate that you checked it out, thanks for the kind words too on playing, I do what I like I guess? lol
Honestly I don't really listen to Mastodon, but I am largely influenced by bands like Megadeth/Metallica/Soilwork/Inflames. Lead playing probably Marty Friedman/ Paul Gilbert/ and a...
Ok, took this beast for a spin and boy does she spit fire when boosted. I find unboosted is refined, typical with Friedman voicings. But I like it a bit more edgy and raw sounding so boosted it and it just hit right once i tweaked the dials on the amp to support the presence from the BOSS SD-1.
I honestly think A.I might be humanity's downfall, I think stuff like scifi action movies "Terminator" have taught us this valuable lesson LOL It seriously is a thin line between that and reality, if A.I deems humanity incapable of evolving to stop wars amongst itself, then itself is a threat...
I don't really know much about this guy, I have occasionally viewed a couple vids of interest but honestly found him annoying. I'm not adding on the hate train either it is an honest observation , no biases here, but his faces he makes on thumbnails are disingenuous and insincere, which I find...
Congrats dude, it makes me happy to see people get this amp especially after commenting/liking on clips from those of us here that posted because now you see what everyone says "wait until you are in the room with it". Not a mythical thing at all, half the joy of Wizard amps is the feel...
Thank you for doing that, appreciate it. Sounds like a solid amount of gain for rhythms, all it needs is a boost to take it 'over the edge' for saturation as per taste / compression / lead grease
