    Vh4 and Vh4S serial numbers

This might have been discussed here before but I cannot find any solid evidence. This mostly pertains to the older heads, in particular, the blueface heads. The older style serial #s usually had the year/production number. What I want to know is if the mono and stereo heads had SEQUENTIAL serial...

    Older VH4s vs Newer VH4s

Yeah I’d be up for that…always preferred the older vh4 anyways. Regarding the issue of your OP, do you think it’s a technical problem or what?

    Older VH4s vs Newer VH4s

I’ve got a 2018 vh4 I’d be willing to trade you if you ever decide to go that route. Cheers

Lost volume after turn on Diezel VH4

I just had this happen to my ‘95. It was exactly that-corrosion in the serial jacks. Cleaned them up and good as new...I should note that I originally thought it was a bad preamp tube but after rolling some tubes the problem still persisted and thusly discovered the real culprit...this knowledge...

    VH4 ch3 vs VH2 ch2

Ch2 on the vh2 is a hybrid of ch3 and 4 of the vh4...it is not an exact clone. If your ok with that, then vh2 is the way to go but if you’re strictly looking for ch3 of the vh4 (and your budget allows) then nothing will satisfy that itch other than a vh4...happy hunting my friend!

Tone difference between vh4 stereo and mono

Thanks! I have discussed this with Jon plenty of times and he has helped a lot. I just wanted other’s opinions!

Tone difference between vh4 stereo and mono

I apologize, I should have been more clear on the question...I am aware of all the circuit differences between the older and newer ones. I meant the tonal differences between the stereo and mono of the same production period.

Tone difference between vh4 stereo and mono

Thanks! That all makes a ton of sense!...the whole reason for this thread was because I had the opportunity to purchase a blueface from early ‘95 (serial #006) but it was stereo...needless to say I ended up getting it and I’m just curious as to what to expect

Tone difference between vh4 stereo and mono

Thanks for you input! I greatly appreciate the wisdom...I plan to run it through my stereo Mesa 4x12 and keep both master sets the exact same effectively making it a single 100w head(hopefully)...just wanted to know if there was a difference in the sound between the 2

Tone difference between vh4 stereo and mono

So I know what the physical differences between the stereo and monos are as well as the tubes and circuit. But, does anyone have any experience with both amps that can explain the difference in tone? If any... thanks!

    Need help with American voltage!

Thank you! I believe I have found a good transformer that has been used by another member on here to power his 230v Diezel in America. But I am also wondering about matching the frequency. Does anyone have any thoughts about this matter?

    Need help with American voltage!

Thank you for your advice! So is 230v the max? I haven’t seen anything that indicates the total wattage. Would a 1000w step down converter be an overkill? Or would it just be an extra precaution? The last thing I want to do is mess something up on this amp as this is my absolute dream amp!

    Need help with American voltage!

Hey guys! I’m proud to say that I am the new owner of, what I believe to be, a ‘95 blueface vh4S as the serial # is 006. The only problem is that it is hard-wired to 230v. After speaking to Peter and a few other people, I am under the impression that there is not a 120v tap from the main...
