I can relate to this. I don't own any vintage instruments, but I have a few that mean a lot to me. I could honestly sell 75% of my guitars tomorrow and be totally fine, and even though I don't play them enough, I thoroughly enjoy the time I do get with them.

If I had stuck with $300 to $500 guitars, I'd probably have 3 to 4 times as many.

Because I wear tan pants and like looking at all these g-strings.

I'm glad I got my USA WGs a decade ago when no one wanted them. I'd like to pick up one of the Japanese ones with the kill switch, though.

fingerpicking is rough. I'd like to be able to make that work.

I've thought about buying some preamps, etc... like actual hardware. I looked at a 500-series rack, and holy cow are you on the mark with calling it a rabbit hole.

I actually had a new year's resolution to write a lot of music this year, and I'm currently failing. I need to get back on track.

I'm in a similar boat, only I made sure I at least wrote out chord progressions for my stuff so I could go back and have a reference. The solos... yeah, I used to write those down, but it's been a while.

I've seen worse throws, but I've also seen better.
