    Strong hints that Van Halen 1 68 lead was just a slave amp and not the main amp.

    Except, by your description of your gear you left out a VERY important ingredient...the JBL D120s. Very hard to find these days, with OG cones but you can also try the D123s as they also give that clarity and 'sizzle' you hear on VH1. First time I fired up the 50w 72 with the EVH spec circuit...

    What kind of loop does the Bogner Snorkler have?

    Sorry I couldn't help ya...I never use loops anymore since I got my WDW mini rack/line out box going. Glad you're digging the amp!

    Strong hints that Van Halen 1 68 lead was just a slave amp and not the main amp.

    OP, take a stock Superlead of some type and add the components that are 'rumored' to be stock in Ed's plexi. To my memory it's an additional 'fat cap' ie a V2a cathode bypass cap, .68 Mustard or larger. Then, lower the V1B cathode resistor from 1.2 to .860. Those 2 alone turned a 50w 1972 into...

    G12M-25 Versions?

    Semantics. Both are Marshall corporate locations I believe. Regarding Vintage speakers, it's just like vintage amps. In my experience with this thing we do with gear, vintage versions always have something 'more' than the modern equivalents. 'They don't make em like they used to' is a thing...

    G12M-25 Versions?

    G12Cs are a reissue of a GB that Hendrix favored most in one of his cabs. A little darker for a GB; Celestion got ahold of one and tried to duplicate it. Went into the Hendrix cabs and VM cabs(as the kid said above). I had a killer VM B cab that was crazy good...sold it, regretted it and bought...

    G12M-25 Versions?

    The short version of Chinese GBs compared to the 6402/H1777(The Celestion rep long ago stated that there's no difference between 6402s and the newer stamped H1777s) is, the Chinese versions are 'hairier' in the highs vs the Made in England versions that are 'clearer' without that high end 'hair'.

    G12M-25 Versions?

    In my experience..... Older are always better. Nothing wrong with the newer ones, but the earlier you go the more 'complex' the tone, 3D if you will, with some differences that may make you value one version vs the others. Pulsonics- These are otherwise known as 'pre Rola' speakers, made in the...

    I need a head for a Suhr 2 x 12 with vintage 30s

    I honestly think about the Snorkler as one of the best modded Marshalls I've had, by coincidence can also nail AIC tones. Feel is as good as a 60s Plexi, clarity fantastic, and the loop vol allows you to push the power tubes and play and a low vol. Noise gate is great as well. Outer chassis bias...

    I need a head for a Suhr 2 x 12 with vintage 30s

    Get a Snorkler. It's a great addition to your lineup without much crossover. It's more modded Marshall with the Bogner lower mid growl. Sounds great through my Marshall labelled Vintage 30s.

    IIC++ Reissue vs JP2C?

    Funny you say this; the store that I tried the JP in also had a Mk IV. It definitely sounded closer to my C+ than the JP did. But, still not the same.

    IIC++ Reissue vs JP2C?

    I played a JP when they first came out, and I had my C+ Coli at home. The JP is a cool amp, lots of cool features but it isn't even remotely a C+. No feel, the clarity isn't the same and no punch in comparison(to the SRG, HRG C+s I owned previously). It falls WAY short to a vintage C+. Guys...

    Strong hints that Van Halen 1 68 lead was just a slave amp and not the main amp.

    Even Deraps?? Who, that kid who plays EVH well? So, somehow he know what was used back in 1977?? Just because he can play EVH doesn't mean jack when it comes to 1977 and the recording of VHI. We can see the 412 in the studio, and we can see the aluminum dust caps of the JBL D120s IN the cab...
