I kept the HR and offed the UU over a year ago now. As I said before though I didn’t find the amps to be similar to each other or apples to apples in flavor. I can’t answer questions like whether it’s worth the high price, but it is to me among the best high gain amps I’ve played. The triple gains, saturation and push-pull boosts are awesome features that allow you to really tweak the sound to be where you want. They shape the eq a lot as well as the gain. Looking at the amps in your sig, I’d think it would be your cup of tea and maybe even send some of those amps packing imoReturning after a few months. Happy owner of the Über Ultra. I still consider a HR now and then.
Does anybody still have both or which was the one that went out the door. Please update me ... Is the HR worth the steeper price.
What's your thought of the triple gains and boosts?
Honestly man, it really depends on your personal taste, and financial situation. If I had to sell an amp for financial reasons, I like my hell razor, but it’d be gone over my uber if I needed the cash.Returning after a few months. Happy owner of the Über Ultra. I still consider a HR now and then.

braintheory and Bram576: Thanks so much for the update. No Wizards to check out anywhere here in Germany, so this helps.Honestly man, it really depends on your personal taste, and financial situation. The hell razor has more clarity and is drier. The wizard thing, people love or hate it. They feel awesome… but the midrange is pretty different to most amps, reminds me of vht a bit. End of the day I really enjoy my hell razor, but if my family needed the money it’d be one of the ones to go over its high price tag and not being 10000 percent better than other shit I own.
If the noise is bugging you try a fortin Zuul or one of the circuits similar to that, that you run in front and in the loop. With that mine is dead silent.braintheory and Bram576: Thanks so much for the update. No Wizards to check out anywhere here in Germany, so this helps.
Actually, the UU is a real gem, but a little noisy.
I also find that I tend to dial in comparable tones in different amps.
So, I was trying to be wise and tried what I have: My Pittbull UL is comparable "metal" in gain levels, drier than the UU, but had the mids sit higher. Actually, I preferred it. Funny: Having only a single gain control on the Pittbull is actually fine.
My MCII is also awesome and maybe kicking it with a Buxom Boost will re-direct it, too.
I was in similar situation some weeks ago and ended up finding a MTL MKii in Europe.braintheory and Bram576: Thanks so much for the update. No Wizards to check out anywhere here in Germany, so this helps.

Btw. Nice to see a CCV in Germany! I’m in Denmark
EDIT. oh it’s you Ulf!![]()
The Hellrazor is worth the price. I would sell 2 of my amps to fund 1 Hellrazor no question. It is a very versatile amp also. Most folks just use it for Meshuggah tight stuff but it is equally good for rock tones and lower gain edge of breakup stuff. There is so much power and punch to the KT88s. The Uber Ultra is not even a fair fight next to a Hellrazor. A Uberschall Rev1 and Rev Green is equally good though.Returning after a few months. Happy owner of the Über Ultra. 110% agreed. Better imo to just pony up for the best amp one can get if feasible. Usual better for resale too if/when neededThe Hellrazor is worth the price.
