For those that owned both, compare the Uber Ultra with the Hell Razor

Well folks here.... i bought a Wizard Hybrid KT150 from a member here as well i guess but after playing the KT200 MTL mk2 i guess the Hybrid is loosing its depth lowend response and due to the KTs on it it sounded more modern but without the punishing lowend... last year i remember taking with @RedB4Black and his advice was same as what i felt after recieving the hybrid... its a fantastic amp for sure but its missing the depth the element towards a modern amp in my opinion should be featured but it has the MC2 contour knob... i then recalled its probably time to do the Jeremy wizard mods myself changing the contour knob to a depth knob but thing is the Hell razor also caught my attention.... i am not sure if its better for me to sell off the Hybrid kt150 for a Hellrazor ....
I didn't even know they made a KT200 MTL. Dang!!! I scored a 100W MkII last year, and I really dig it, the 200 must be wild. Where is the delineation between the 150 HR and a 200 MTL? I figured the HR was a juiced up MTL on roids, but I guess they are different voicings?
No… I’d say the Hellion as more different
Hellion is such a chameleon. I've had mine for almost a year, and have basically only experimented with 2 of the gain voicings. If it only had those 2, it would still be a keeper.

Yup i scored it last year on reverb it has the silver front panel with a navy blue shell but seller didnt advise its missing on a back panel and i purchased a silver back from Rick for a premium ...

As for the KT200 MTL mk2 it runs 4 KT120 which tungsol only produces them.... i just checked on measurement it reads 580VDC or 578VDC plate voltage and a biasing current of around 20mA thats a very cold bias... no idea it came off stock like it as i gotten it used.. as spoken to Rick before it not too dissimiliar to the KT150.... but for many of the KT88 amps i got this KT200 sound way better not sure if its the tube or amp build factor as i dont have a KT150 MTL MK2 for comparison... but again its cold bias it already sound huge and massive !! Nothing sounded too stiff ie my Pitbull UL 120 nor the Wizard KT150 hybrid....

Think the HR is entirely different animal compares to the MTL... judging from feedbacks its larger than MTL haha

that doesn't quell my gas for a HR.

Hm that’s surprising. My HR KT150 measured 680 for plate voltage, but I haven’t checked actually where the tubes are biased to

There is no question for me on the Hellrazor versus the Uber Ultra. The Hellrazor feels like smalls explosions in the room with how much raw power and punch it has, while the Uber Ultra just felt filtered for me. They are completely different amps though. I do absolutely love my Uberschall Rev Green which sounds to me like a dual rectifier with Bogner DNA. Congrats on the LENZ Octane I was considering ordering one myself.

Wow... 680V on KT88 ? What brand of tube did ya have in your HR ?

I probably recheck again on my MTL KT200 PV... i might have given wrong voltages... lol
If yours is well at 680V on KT88 means i probably could retrofit in a KT88 tube with some biasing current adjustment for the right Power .... seems legit huh....

I recall my VHT ultralead on mine was only 450 or 460 ?

I’ve seen videos of it. I wonder if it’s really all that different from the SK. I’d probably dial them to sound the same . Lol
CS24 is based on an SLO modded Marshall those guys found, but then added their own mods to. So definitely some overlap with the SK given Shae worked on both and the SK also started as Plexi/JCM800 mods.

Your clips are the ones that keep me coming back to the HR, I’ll likely bite the bullet this week

For all the Hellion talk, I have to absolutely concur. Easily one of my favorite amps and I don’t see that one leaving my stable at any point. Just killer all around. The ability to mix in the amount of diode clipping takes it to a complete next level in terms of sneaky versatility

Just JJ KT88’s. Another guy here had a KT150 MCII and think he said his measured in the 650’s iirc

The HR and MTL have almost zero in common. The MTL is scooped overall with a huge low end and can saturate nicely. It has and interesting sub bass thingy going on similar to a VH4. The HR feels more like a (very) suped up MC but with tons of options. All that said my MCII and HR are both running 34s and my MTL is running 6L6. They are all 50 watt as well FWIW.

Agree that the MC2 is more cutting like a razor blade vs the MTL being a power bull... shouldnt the Hellrazor have a depth control and shares the same depth intensity as the MTL ?

The Uber Ultra has some many tone shaping switches it's definitely more versatile than most other metal amps. It's not my favorite of all the amps I have at the moment but it's definitely a crushing amp for chugging. The HR has loads of gain and a different way to shape your tone with the 3 gain knobs, pull boost etc. and sounds like all Wizards do - MASSIVE!

Helm rwxor all the way . Had sweetwater stop my UU purchase after I got HR . My frievds hace UU . Great amp but wizard is even greater

Its just different. Sub bass vs bass. Ever played a Diezel? The MTL has that sub bass thing going on.

hmm, that just makes me want a HR more, I wish I could play one. I need to get better friends.

Yup did have a VH4 and a herbert whom been looking to offload....

The diezels are very thick huge and soft somewhat sterile.... sorry to put this here...
I have never played wizard and diezel side by side. But what i remember of my diezel, it was one of my fav amps. Had a beautiful voicing
