The M6 is kinda like the opposite of that. It's the most sharp, tight pickup I've ever tried.
I’ve had sharper and tighter even (lower output though), but it’s definitely up there

That’s solid. I was thinking of the one and had the order page up. This pushed me over the edge.
If interested I can send you some of my recommendations to try and most cost the same or less than the BKP’s or Lundgren’s go for used. Warning, they may spoil you lol

Always interested in top tier recommendations! Thank you

Speaking of other pickups, I really like, the Bill and Becky L500xl is also super punchy and clear, on par with my Lundgrens in my opinion. Big yet tight bottom end. They are very bright though, I have one in my Strat with a 250k volume and 250k tone connected and it sounds balanced in that configuration.

For the price they cost new, it’s worth getting just to try in a few guitars and see if it’s your jam.

I wish they made a 7 string model.

Yeah I haven't tried those, but the vintage Bill Lawrence's I have are great and don't go for that much. My personal favorites are the '70's L100's, L90's and early '80's L510's. Of course the L500's are classics

Both the Rebel Yell and the Aftermath is very guitar specific but they can sound awesome in the right guitar. I have an Aftermath in a guitar now that sounds incredible, was just the right fit. I tried the Aftermath in the past in other guitars and didnt like it very much. Rebell Yell has a lot of upper mids and a bit of a scoop somewhere else in the lower middle. The Aftermath is like all mids, not a lot of bass as others mentioned but it's thick in the mids and has a nice immediate response. In a guitar that has a thick bottom it will work nicely in my opinion. For passives there is nothing better for me than Bare Knuckles, Ive tried Lundgrens, Motor City most of the other modern production boutique stuff. The BKs are a bit dry in comparison to some of the others but I think they have tons of character just not your typical shmear that other brands have. I think it scarers people away because there is nothing to hide behind.

Love Lundgren. The Aftermath was pure death metal. The mids were specific. Sold it even if I liked it for Entombed riffing.

I had a guitar with aftermaths for about 2 years, and could never get along with them.

It had this nasally half-cocked thing going on, that just took over the entire tone especially when I tried to dial back the gain levels a bit. It had unique character that worked for low tuned single note riffs, but I didn't like how it sounded with chords. This was an ash/maple guitar, so maybe they'd have played differently in another setting.
