Who plays 8s?

8’s are far too woke for me. Similarly, 13’s are much too tight assed for me as well. I use sensible, moderate 10, 11’s and 12’s depending on tuning (E, Eb, D)

On 25.5” I use 8s, on 24.75” I use 9s, on 25” I use 8.5s.

Seems like a good idea until the bloody thing goes out of tune, again, and again, and again...

I don't have any guitars at E, but if I did it would be 9-44 for me.
I use 9.5-46 for Eb with 25.5" scale.

I would begin to question my masculinity if I used 8's.

My go to sets are 11-56 or 11-54. I'm a dumb dumb and tune to drop C, sometimes A#.

I use 8s on my Strat in Standard. Feels close to my Superstrats with 9s in Eb.

I liked playing with 8s, but ultimately stuck with 9s so I can run them on all guitars in all tunings I care to play in.

I'd be out of tune on every chord and I'd break a string every song. But hey they worked for Page and Gibbons

I've had 8s on my Les Paul for about 3 years now. Ernie ball custom pure nickel wrap 08-11-14-22-30-38.
Feels good (y)

I have a YJM strat I keep 8’s on. It’s really fun for an alternative kind of feel and I really like having it around but definitely not as a #1 go-to guitar.

For everything else, I use 10’s for PRS and Gibson scale, 9’s for Fender scale. Works great.

I feel like 10s are great for the feeling under the fingers, but usually need 9s to bend properly. Tried 8s when I was younger but it seemed the sound was too thin!

Good for you--this is the way to go. Shit, at the end of that 2nd set my hand is cramping like a MF because I strangle the neck. I've been trying to lighten my touch but it has not been easy.

Resonance knob to the rescue? They say Brian Johnson's stage voice is barely a whisper...let the gear do the work

I am too hamfisted for 8's. My strings increase in gauge depending what tuning I'm using on that guitar. Beato makes an interesting argument for standard though.

I've been digging the balanced tension .009s from D'Addario for standard tuning. It's a nice compromise.

I tried 8's and they are a little light for me. 10-52 in E standard on a 24.75 guitar.

Kiko has a great technique for lightening your touch.

That amp is a compressed mush box that lays over like a beaten dog..
People like it because it hides everything..
