it sounds fine but I still hear the ENGL sound and I would always want to go back to something more raw after having it for short while.

I like Engls to a degree. The post 2011 Savage120 with upgraded tranny was a killer amp, the FB100 I liked almost as much, I didn't care too much for the AE. Next to amps I had at the time (Morris Perplexed, Wizard MC2, Peavey 6505+, Peters Bodyhammer) the AE sounded quite artificial-processed. Didn't care too much for the Blackmore either when I had one but to be fair I probably didn't give it a fair enough shot.

Engls are cool and unique but next to many other amps I always find them to have that artificial-processed thing that lacks the raw-organic-open tone and feel I like. Engls play very stiff to me too, they're tight as hell and get very fast attack and tracking which is cool but as a result feel overly stiff IMO.

I won't even get into the guts and circuit quality, or lack there of. All that said...I admittedly occasionally consider grabbing a FB100 or Savage120 MK1 if the price was cheap enough, but then I realize it wouldn't stay long so what's the point.

Doug Aldrich was working with ENGL and this amp was supposed to be his signature model, but it sank.

I have had an ENGL Special Edition, it was heavy as hell.
I loved the amp, but its Master goes from no sound to ears bleeding.
I really liked and I have bought an Bad Cat Unleash to use with, but the weight and the attenuator killed my love.

It’s crazy to me, it seems engls most affordable amps are their best. This and the fireball

Generally the simpler the amp, the "better" it sounds compared to a more complex counterpart
