Drove an hour and a half for this cab.
Replaced grill cloth and logo.
Actually, the retired gentleman had the original cloth hanging in his old band practice rehearsal area.
Pretty beat up with a hand painted wizard standing on a mountain of skulls. Pretty fucking metal!
He wouldn’t let me have it.

Hung out with the old fella for an hour, he had some great stories…

The biggest tragedy here is that it appears this cabinet formerly housed the awesome 55 hz G12-80 speakers. This is definitely the equivalent of discovering a hidden penis on a hot date.
So was looking up these speakers, looks like they came in early JCM800 cabs (1984’ish)? Maybe 1985?
The old fella told me the cab had the original G12-80 speakers. I just took him at his word.

Take it back if possible. G12M-70s are one of the worst Celestions ever while those particular 80s are one of the best

No worries.
Even what I read about the 80’s, I thought I may replace them.
I honestly thought $350 for the cab was good?

with those speakers plus the drive id say thats about going rate.

Anything in particular to clean the tolex?
Or is a little Simple Green on a rag sufficient/safe for the tolex?

Spent the weekend playing thru the cab.
With a Metro JTM45 and these speakers, not sure how much I like them.
A reverb pedal really helped.
I think the looseness of the JTM may not be the greatest match with these speakers?

I've listened to enough Tone Talks with Friedman, was looking at the "blues rock" speaker quad at GC.
Two greenbacks and two vintage 30's.
Seeing as the speakers in the cab aren't original anyways...
