I have Fenders and Bogners and the full Synergy thing. They sound SO good. But honestly I can get a really good sound through my Katana, and through a closed back cab a REALLY good sound (and I am a snob for that "edge of breakup" thing the modelers have traditionally struggled with).

I think the body and neck are probably legit, along with the crown tuners. You can chunk everything else. Good candidate for a restoration, but star bodies don’t bring the big $$$.
Learn to hear the differences in how the attack waveform is shaped and where the harmonic distortion is coming from. Long plates vs short plates, total gain vs even order "enhancement". In a regular E form barre chord, how does the 3rd sound? How do high and low individually picked notes sound...
The Syn50 head is better than the Syn30 combo, which doesn't have the global master, and which has a fixed resonance (which on the head I keep mostly turned off). Like everything, unless you are going for super square wave high gain, they respond to having good glass.
I think the Syn50 power...
I have the SLO, the Twin/Deluxe, the Ecstasy, and the Friedman BB/BE. It is a great system. The 50w head is ridiculous. Sounds fantastic. The 30w combo is good...it is missing the amazing master circuit of the head but a good 25k volume pedal in the loop solves that issue.
I have a couple hundred hours piloting Bonanzas. Fantastic aircraft, super-stable flying platforms. Absolutely right that they are known as doctor/lawyer killers - but the reason is that it is easy to get “behind the airplane” in instrument conditions (IFR) because it is fast and slick (the...
Spencer Deaton, now at Jimmy Wallace’s place in downtown Garland.
Spencer is simply incredible, and has had opportunities to go on the road but is a family man.
He was trained in the Jim Russell school. If you know, you know. (Jim is now Paul Reed Smiths “guy”).
Yeah Andy is such a good dude. Back in the day when I was playing full time and had an endorsement deal he’d always come jam with me at our booth at the guitar shows. He had no obligation other than he’s just a nice guy. RIDICULOUSLY talented player.
That's good info. I know EJ loved the old 80s to use with his Dumble SSS, which he then would put a TS and a Fuzz in front of. His Dumble was designed to sound like a massive JTM45/100, and was L O U D. Heard it in person back in the day ('86 or so).
I love the Syn-30. I'm running the BB/BE module in the combo and that gives me Fender clean, pedal platform clean, and Marshall ++. Just killer sounding. Now, that isn't a chug machine and I'm not the guy to comment on/evaluate that stuff anyway.
I also have the Syn-50 head which is ridiculous...
