What new version? The circuit hasn't changed in 15-20+ years, last I knew. Did they make recent changes?
My go to cab for everything over the past 15 years or so has been a Genz Benz G-Flex 2x12. For the past ~8 years it's been loaded with K85's and has sounded great with everything except a Marshall 2203 that just threw icepicks through that cab.
VHT Pittbull CLX. Had a Pittbull Classic combo and wanted the head version after selling the combo. No regrets and my back is happier with the head and cab doing separate trips rather than a heavy sumbitch 2x12 combo.
Peavey VTM. Had a 60... sold it when I got a VHT D60. Picked up a 120 this...
I do the line out of the GP/DI into the line in of the PS-2. I prefer this to using the speaker out. The line out gives a tighter sound overall to me. YMMV.
The PS-2 EQ switches and depth/presence still work with the line in, I believe.
FWIW my American made VHT Fatbottom cab has T nuts with the exact same issue. Was a bitch and a half trying to swap speakers with these fuckers stripping out.
Bought the Fane F70G quad off of espquade. Speakers arrived two days after I sent payment. Haven't been able to install them yet but everything seems in order. They were packed well. Great communication!
#1 for sure.
I always dial in my sounds relatively similarly regardless of amp, but it's almost always on a multi-channel amp. Now, if the amp has great dynamic response and can clean up nicely with the guitar volume knob, that changes things. I only ever had two amps that did that as well as I...
I am/was dirtyfunkg. Pretty much posted this and then realized how ridiculous the post was pretty much immediately. Noticed that RT had my account under an older, no longer existent email address. Changed my pw, told Chrome not to remember it... and now I see something in the classifieds that I...
Pretty much exactly this... or there's a line in on the PS-2 that can handle it. Either way you get the same result, though with the line in that allows you to use the PS-2's loop down the chain instead of between your amp's line/send out and the effects return of the PS-2.
I don't have a MD421 but have been using a Heil PR40 for several years now on various applications, including bass, bass drum, and electric guitar. I'm partial to using a DI for bass and doctoring that signal in the box, but the PR40 has done beautifully in those scenarios. I'm also quite sure...
Is weight a big consideration for you?
I'm running a GK 1001RBII through a Mesa Powerhouse 4x10. Very versatile. Not light (esp the cab) but with wheels it's pretty manageable.
I've heard a lot of good things about Markbass, Mesa Class D and such but don't have direct playing experience...
