    Lower tuned Ultra clip

Channel One is super underrated for the brutal tones.

    Preparing amp for long-term storage?

What do y'all do when storing an amp long-term? Remove tubes? Anything else?

    Uber ultra MV switch

I haven't experienced that on mine.

    Different Ultra options?

This. I got the EL34 version specifically so I could run EL34s, KT88s, or a mix of the two.

    NAD: Uber OG

What are the serial numbers on these? My Rev 2 (#336) has a presence control that is also more like a mid control.

So which production EL34s actually sound good enough to buy?

I’ve really liked the JJ E34Ls in amps with a lot of top end on tap.

Bogner Uber Ultra Channel 2 knob turning

I think it got hacked years ago and they just haven’t gotten around to fixing it.

Bogner Uber Ultra - A complex, complicated Monster

Agreed. The Twin Jet was disappointingly flubby and kinda sterile. The UU dominates it.

Bogner Uber Ultra - A complex, complicated Monster

It can take a boost very well in Uber mode on Channel Two, but it really doesn’t need it when dialed in correctly.

Bogner Uber Ultra - A complex, complicated Monster

With the right tubes, it can do anything the earlier Ubers can do and a lot more. It’s by far the tightest, most aggressive version of the Uber ever, and it has surprisingly nice clean and crunch tones. That said, I can’t stand the Uber power amp mode or the Bright mode on Channel Two. Pretty...

    Uber Ultra

I’ve also tried a mix of JJ KT88s and JJ EL34s. It definitely cuts the mids and boosts the low and high end, which I’m fine with because the UU is a very mid-focused amp. It also makes it ridiculously aggressive and tight. I think I prefer this combo the most.

    What’s the go-to KT88 today?

Wondering what everyone is using for current-production KT88s today. I’ve had a quad of JJ KT88s that lasted a long time that I liked, but I’m not sure if the current production of those tubes is up to the old standard of quality.

    Uber Ultra

I tried JJ E34Ls in the amp. Since that’s what I’m using in my Rev 2, it definitely reminds me a lot more of that amp. I can say now that the UU can match the Rev 2’s tone very closely, with maybe a slight bit less top end.

    Uber Ultra

I think it can do anything the Rev Blue does and about 90% of what the Rev Green does. With KT88s, I'm sure it can do whatever the Twin Jet does. Not only that, it is much easier to get good clean and crunch tones out of it at decent volumes than the earlier Uberschalls.

    Uber Ultra

You won’t be disappointed. This thing really is the ultimate hard rock and metal amp. Just take your time to explore everything before coming to any firm conclusions. And don’t neglect the cleans on channel one, they are surprisingly good!

    Uber Ultra

Yep. It’s much quieter on Uber mode. However, the Ultra mode is like having a boost in front of the amp in terms of tightness, articulation, etc., especially with the Metamorph knob on a lower setting. To me, the added noise is an acceptable tradeoff if, for whatever reason, you don’t want to...

    Uber Ultra

I do think the UU on Ultra mode is noisier, especially when you use a noise gate in front of a UU vs. an earlier Uberschall. However, running a gate in the loop helps a lot.

How could they have done this (Mesa content)

Same. Bogner used to use it before they started going with the lame comet tolex.

    Uber Ultra

The noise on Ultra mode is definitely noticeable, but only when you're not actually playing, and I don't have trouble with excessive feedback. I try to keep the gain on Ultra mode at about 2:00 or less for that reason (it already has insane amounts of gain at that point). If the noise becomes...
