How could they have done this (Mesa content)

Same. Bogner used to use it before they started going with the lame comet tolex.

See I like the comet tolex where it's subtle, like on the 101B, Uber Ultra, and metal grill Shiva, where you can only see the tolex outlining the amp when you're looking at it from the front.

But on amps like the Helios and Goldfinger, where the majority of the front is just straight tolex, then yeah the comet pattern looks weird.

I like the smoother Taurus look more too.

Side note: I'm curious to see if Mesa this year will make their own version of the IR-X maybe even with a graphic eq.
 
You can probably still order it in the original but yeah that just doesn’t look right.
 
Imagine what Gibson would save if they finally got rid of the diamond plate on the front. Surprised they didn't do that along with the tolex considering the price of metals right now.

Next thing you know they will start chambering the transformers to save weight.
 
If they are downgrading things you can easily see just imagine all the downgrades that you can't easily see.
The Mesa glory days are no doubt over.
