Nah, not a deal breaker. Just know what you're getting into.
The Powerstation is a pretty cool device. The only thing I didn't really like about it was the subtle high-frequency roll-off.
I love my VHT Sig:X, but yeah, always had pretty sub-par customer support with Fryette.
I had a pretty hilarious revoking of warranty with my first Fryette Sig:X when I tried an 12AY7 tube for a few minutes in V1 to try and clean up the distortion on the clean channel. This was years and years...
hmmmm good question. I guess it is because they both have 4 channels, so I could easily adapt my Helix patches which switch the channels on the amps, without too much messing around.
I used to use the D-Moll live, which is 3 channels. And my presets on the Helix had a bunch of gain stages built...
VHT SigX - I'm on my 4th.
Diezel D-Moll - I'm on my 2nd.
Orange Rockerverb - I'm on my 2nd.
Marshall JVM - I'm on my 2nd.
EVH5150III - I'm on my 3rd variant, and thinking of selling it again!
The one for my Egnater was solid metal, but the actual electronics and the switching jacks were utter junk!!! They eventually broke on me and half the cab would intermittently die; and I'm guessing the ohmage was changing because of it too. I took them out and hardwired a jack in, job done!
My...
I liked all of them tbh! With a slight preference for the Marshall.
I have my Satch JVM which gives me loads of great Marshall tones in the box. I'd like a JCM900 and JCM800 at some point in the future.
If I take A, B, and C... and compare them. Fine. Valid comparison.
If I take A+OD pedal, B, and C... that is not a valid comparison. Because I'm comparing two similar things to one dissimilar thing.
Adding an OD to the JMP means you're no longer comparing amps. You're comparing tones. Which is...
Funnily enough I picked up an EVH5150IIIS EL34 in January, and I'm thinking of moving it on because I don't dig the tone. I find it boxy sounding and the low-end isn't strong enough for me. It's kinda too metal, if you know what I mean.
Typically I use 3 and 4 channel amps. Because I need a clean, overdrive, crunch, and high-gain sound... pretty much in every song.
I have an Orange Rockerverb MK3 100-watt head that I love, but don't use it much with my band specifically because I find 2 channels a bit limiting. But I'm sure...
