When I was about 15(1987) I bought a brand new new JCM800 head. I didn't have the money for a cab so I got a 1/4" to RCA adapter and ran the speaker out of the Marshall into my boombox. Sounded killer for a few hours but then something blew and I had to take in in for repair. Picked up a 4x12...
I've had several Mark IV's, a Mark V, MarkV:35,DC5, F100, F50, TC50, Mini Rec, Mini Rectoverb, Stiletto II, Lonestar, Rectoverb 25 combo,Filmore 25, Express 5:50. and maybe a few more i can't recall. I still have a Mark IV and a Mark V:25.
The Yamaha THR is great. I've used it for that last 2 years at home. If you want a more traditional head/cab setup the mini Soldano sounds killer to me. That with a delay pedal and my Mesa 112 is all I need for a home rig.
I just got my mini SLO. Wasn't expecting much, but it's pretty freakin awesome. Sounds great through my Mesa 1x12. Actually am happier with it than my Mesa MarkV25 as a bedroom/practice amp.
I saw him 2 weeks ago. He seemed fine. He was loud as fuck though, drowning out the rest of the band. He was playing through a Bogner , maybe that Headrush is just for effects. I saw him in Vegas also a few years ago when he was doing the Raiding the Rock Vault show. He seems pretty cool and is...
Mesa F100 head in very nice condition. 2 channel, 6L6 w/ reverb. Great clean channel and dirty channel goes from crunch to scream.Includes original footswitch $750 Shipped
They should pay you for cleaning it. You would think they could take 5 minutes to clean it up. No pride in what they sell. I bought a used Taylor off them and it showed up so filthy, looked like peanut butter or maybe boogers or something smeared on it, just dusty, crusty and nasty. I cleaned it...
Most touring acts have standard production amps in their back lines that can be bought or rented/serviced anywhere. They usually have a few identical backups also.
Depends on how you play at home. Backing tracks? You want effects? If no, then some type of amp like a Peavy Bandit should work. If you want Bluetooth for backing tracks, headphones, tuner and effects check out the Yamaha THRII. Out of all my amps that sees the most action.
This 100%. When I had mine I ran a pretty hot set of EL34's in it and it killed. I don't remember the details of the tubes but I posted it either here or the boogie board if someone was interested.
I had one and loved it. I only got rid of it because a guy offered a Mark IV in trade which I could not resist. This clip represents what I remember it sounding like.
Prices on these amps are nuts. I may get flamed for this but.. I had a mint 79 JMP 2203, all stock. It was cool, but pretty meh. I lined it up next to my Quick Rod and was able to dial the QR to sound pretty much identical to the 2203 through the same cab. But then the QR had so much more, clean...
