Saw Badlands on the “Voodoo Highway” tour, in Sacramento, at the venerable Boardwalk. Jake played through 2 red, full Marshall stacks. His onstage volume was insanely loud. And it sounded fantastic.
I put a Duncan Alternative 8, in my LTD Desert Eagle. I dig it. It’s sorta like a JB without that annoying mid-range spike.
It is a hot pickup, just so ya know.
I have the Quarter Pounder in 3 super strat style guitars. In 2 of those, I have fairly hot humbuckers in the bridge position. The Quarter Pounder keeps up nicely with both.
I walked out of her show last year. I just couldn’t get into it. She has chops galore. But, the music reminded me of 3rd string Cacophony. I dunno?
I love shred guitar, but her music does nothing for me.
One of my favorite Lynch albums. I enjoyed how he reimagined those songs. Of course, he still sounded like himself. I saw the Lynch Mob on that tour, in a tiny club in Sacramento. Seriously crunchy.
Agreed. I also use the Variac switch. Running the Helios with no eq, at ~35w, through a greenback loaded 4x12, is as close to that early VH tone as I’ll ever get. It’s glorious.
Absolutely.
Which is why I almost never use my Helios(100w) in ‘80s mode. I like how unpolished the Helios sounds in ‘70s mode. It’s AC/DC to early Van Halen Marshall goodness all day long. Especially through a Greenback loaded 4x12.
