There's a point of diminishing returns that spikes sharply just above what you've already got. You're better off leaving that casket closed and prioritizing your money on things that matter to you in other areas (savings, investment, mortgage/rent travel, other hobbies that your don't already...
Jon, what are your thoughts on how it sounds vs the 100 watt version? Have you been in a situation where you could really open them up loud through a cab to see how they compare at painful volumes?
I have a VIP 2 as well, that thing sounded great on the 6534 and 6534 models. I played the shit out of it for a few years until it finally croaked while playing full volume at a drummer's house. Turned it into a 1x12 extension cab and kept it around. The first one I bought went back for...
Great video Jon, keep them coming. The Ironball SE really seems like a swiss army knife for people who love keeping the rig as simple as possible. No need for the 4 cable method with this one!
I'm in the same boat, and have often wondered about this as well. I do some pretty weird/challenging rhythm things with my picking hand that others have an extremely hard time with, but I've also really struggled with clean and smooth leads due to the picking side.
Music doesn't mean what it used to to kids- there's a million other things to keep them entertained. It's not just the over saturation of music that you're competing with, it's everything else. What's left of the music scene is still being bled out by lockdowns and whatnot as well.
Growls were an acquired taste for me (and probably a lot of other people)- if you can ease into them for the sake of the music you might find yourself liking them. Maybe try digging into some bands/songs that are a bit less gutteral (but still harsh) and super catchy to start.
Vader...
One of my favorite bands, pretty much exactly the style of metal I love. Technical and difficult while maintaining top notch songwriting- not "riff salad" like many extreme bands, and there's nothing "core" or "djent" about it. Check this one out also:
The Powerball module demos do sound fantastic, but personally, I already have a Fireball 100, so the Savage would be more different. But I'd probably get both in all honestly. The synergy stuff is such a killer idea for people who want to try or own everything.
