Ghost goes full 80s hard rock

I got another song for ya then: Ratt - Givin' Yourself Away. When I first heard it, I didn't know Desmond Child was involved, but when that pre-chorus dropped (at 0m37s), that's some signature material for him! I immediately looked it up afterwards and lo and behold, he was the (co-)songwriter...

Ghost goes full 80s hard rock

From that same album; Spillways...basically if you do a mash-up of Abba's "Money Money", some early Bon Jovi + the Pokemon theme song... :ROFLMAO: By the way, I really like Ghost. They had to grow on me, because when I first heard Opus when it was released, I always felt this lack of gain...

Driftwood Mini Nightmare Uh, I Didn’t Know ....

Why is that? Also, how would you describe the base tone of the Mini Nightmare? More 'american' or 'british'? I heard some folks describe it as SLO-ish, but I'm not sure if that's accurate...Is it reasonably tight without a boost in high gain mode or so-so?

NGD: Like I needed another Japanese LP, right?

Nice score! And cheers from his older ('83) brother. ;-) That one is rocking a pair of Duncans; Custom/59 Hybrid bridge and Pearly Gates neck. I also put on a Tusq nut, Grover 18:1 tuners and Graphtech bridge saddles.

    Line6 insane mode :D

Had the Uber Metal for a while...like others said, pretty fun at home, but never used it live. I already tried that in my late teens with a Metalzone and a Peavey Bandit. :ROFLMAO: Likewise I had good fun with a Zoom Driver 5000. One of the settings...I forgot Stack 2 or combo 112, was ultra...

MXR Carbon Copy delay repeat level slowly dropping over the years?

Well, I tried it on different amps, with a power supply or a battery and also as the only pedal in the loop. The problem persists. I basically get 1 repeat (regardless of where I set the Regen knob), at about 5% volume at most, and quite distorted (moreso than expected from an analog delay). I...

MXR Carbon Copy delay repeat level slowly dropping over the years?

I'm experiencing a weird thing with my MXR Carbon Copy (probably over 10 years old)... FWIW, I'm running it in the fx-loop of my EVH 5150III 50W, next to a modded Boss GE-7, TC Harmonizer, MXR Micro Flanger, Mooer Ensemble King (CE-2 chorus) and a Boss/Roland RE-20 Space Echo. In the beginning...

VHT Pittbull 100CL or Diezel Einstein / DMoll

Did you have the 35W or 50W and what was your reason for selling it? I concur with stuff that others have voiced; if you want to sum up both amps in 1 word each, Fryette=clarity. Dmoll=thickness. But where most Friedmans have this thick, gooey, polished thing going on, the Dmoll had less 'goo'...

    AMONG THE LIVING anyone?

Yeah, if I'm not mistaken, that's how one of Fortin's 1-knob boost pedals is based; the TC Preamp, but with bass pre-set to 0. That's too clanky for my taste though.

    AMONG THE LIVING anyone?

As confirmed by Scott Ian himself (see post #28), the TC Distortion/Booster pedal had something to do with that as well, both in goosing up the input and for added tightness.

    Mercyful Fate Is Friggin Awesome!

Big fan here as well. More so of Melissa (my first) than DBTO, although the latter had some absolute classics as well. Then there was the Nuns Have no fun EP... 🤘 "Corpse without a soul" is my fave track. And 'Tallica pussied out by not playing that intro solo on Garage Inc.

    Looking for Living Room amp

I had the bigger brother, the TM30. Sounded great indeed. Only downside was the lack of channel switching. And aside from reverb, no further onboard fx. But for pure, analog, tube like tone, one of the better ones for sure.

DEF LEPPARD 'High 'n' Dry' 40th Anniversary

The intro of this song (before the guitars kick in) sounds exactly like the music they used when Michael Knight (or the A-Team for that matter) was scanning the surroundings of an 'abandoned' shed in some dusty town, where some real estate mogul/parttime crook was terrorizing the locals. :giggle:

You know what really grinds my gears?

Doh! o_O I've worked with this stuff in elementary school even. Indeed written with it. We call 'East-Indian ink' and for some reason I didn't make the connection to India ink. But yeah, good to know you can use this to stain fretboards. I got a Burny Les Paul Custom in black with a rosewood fb...

You know what really grinds my gears?

Ehm... What is India ink? Is it specific for instrument making or also used for furniture? Honestly never heard of it. And for the record, it grinds my gears as well.

Pickup for LP with big bottom

Loose yes, but huge sounding, far from it...at least in my experience. Tried it in a Les Paul too. Couldn't sell it fast enough. It's very spongey in its response, but very bland.

    Expensive Instrument Cable Snake Oil

In this case, there are many options that are affordable and an improvement! I'd start with replacing those Monster cables with Sommer Spirit XXL or Klotz LaGrange (AC110). And as for Hosa, even Cordial or Mogami would be better I guess. I do have some patch cables for my homestudio from Hosa...
