Honestly the Burstbucker 1 is my favorite, if you have one of those. Not a metal pickup however.

I like my LP neck humbucker to cut snd have a certain snap to it. Think BB King. Not single coil-ish, but a nice pop when you hit the note. The tone knob can be dialed back for the thicker stuff.

What is the body wood?

I've ordered a set of the 54s too. Can't wait to compare the two sets. I like them better than the Klein Epic 59 set I have.

Correct -- I like the Rocketfire better. Lots of positive reviews on the Duncan's but they aren't for me

Just came in to post this. My favorite The Fender Pure Vintage 65s or 59s are really good too.

Gibson has also started selling the Les Paul Standard Double Trouble with double cream burstbuckers. Can't buy the pickups new yet though.
