Some very easy things I’d do:
Put a 63k resistor over R3
Put a 20k resistor over R1
These are mods that are easily reversible.
Honestly the phase inverter needs converted to a long tail pair to really wake it up. Not a fan of cathodyne phase inverters.
Exactly. Someone else is ordering an Abaddon with dual masters for this exact reason. Second master acts as a volume boost when rolling back the guitar volume knob to cut in a mix. The same 2nd master acts as a solo boost when the guitar volume is all the way up and can be helped with a boost...
This is one of the most important statements of the entire year on this forum. There’s so much truth to this it’s unreal. It’s why I hate clean channels in high gain amps and prefer designs that can clean up with the guitar volume assuming the pickups aren’t so hot that it never gets there.

I’ve seen the guts. They were openly posted my Marshall and others can confirm as well. They’re basic mods at best any experienced hobbyist can do themselves. They’re more invasive than someone with no experience can tackle due to the various switching of the features and wiring layout to do it...
I mean honestly what Marshall doesn’t understand that Jeremy, myself, Jason, Shea, and FourT do, is that just adding diodes to an amp doesn’t automatically make it sound like a badass high gain Marshall. You have to completely retune the whole amp dynamics to favor the diode clipping and balance...
Fuck that sounds killer.
I just ordered an Aphex 104 exciter. As many recto clips as I’ve heard I know damn well how much that unit is doing the heavy lifting here to clean things up. I’m still highly skeptical but it’s cheap enough that it’s worth a try.
