I am unapologetic fanboy of Anderson Guitarworks. The clincher for me is that their Even Taper neck carve fits my hands perfectly. I have five Anderson and love them all but this Drop Top I had custom spec'ed in 2010 is my #1 and a guitar I will never part with. H2+ in the bridge and an H1 in...
I owned a VHT CLX for about 2 years. It was a great amp that was more versatile than it gets credit for. It was definitely a cleaner gain (not quite as saturated as other modern high gain amps). It definitely helped me improve my timing and playing as it exposed my weaknesses. They're similar to...
I have owned many amps over the years from vintage to modern. If you ask me today I would say the 3rd Power Kitchen Sink. Fender and Vox tones on the clean side and the gain side is based on a 68 Marshall Superlead. Some modern features along with these classic tones. It is everything I've ever...
I'm with you, George. I love his playing but never thought his tone was special. However, I do like his raw Marshall tones from Badlands but anyone can get those with a good stock Marshall. I think those tones fit their music.
That was a great disc! Lots of great tunes on it. Winger had one called Battle Stations that was great too. Go to Hell from Megadeth, Primus - Tommy the Cat, King's X - Junior's Gone Wild and Faith No More - The Perfect Crime were great too.
I thought it was a great comparison. Usually I can't hear any major differences in these kinds of videos but I definitely heard them hear. The 6505 sounded a bit brighter and fizzier (not in a bad way). The 1992 sounded creamier but still had that core 5150 tone. Both sounded great but if I...
Recently, I used my Fractal FM9 at band rehearsal for the first time. Normally, I use my 3rd Power Kitchen Sink tube amp combo for everything but I left it at my main band's space. I decided to take my FM9 as I didn't have the time to pick up my normal rig. I just loaded up my normal patch and...
The recent Randy Rhodes soundboard post got me thinking about my favorite live solo spots for players I love. As much as I love EVH and Randy I would have to say my very favorite live solo spot is from John Petrucci from Dream Theater's Images and Words tour on To Live Forever. For me, I would...
I had a Kemper from 2012 to 2020. The Kemper was awesome and still is! I loved playing with it and it was consistent every time I used it for recording and live. I switched to the Axe-FX III in mid-2020. I didn't switch because I think is one better than the other. I just wanted to try something...
For me, it does it all. It was also my first custom spec'ed Anderson guitar (I have 4 other Andersons too). I spec'ed it in 2010. I will be buried with this guitar.
