The MK2 and Soldano are my favorite high gain plugins. I haven’t owned either amp in real life, but I also gravitate to them on every modeler I’ve had. At this point, I don’t see that I’ll ever need another “real” amp, so these really scratch the itch. Highly recommend these.
I have them on every guitar I’ve owned the last 8-10 years, and I love them. Totally legit. Only one issue ever - one of the plastic spacers below the button cracked, but was probably user error over tightening. I’ve probably had 30-40 sets.
I had 4 of the Style 2's back around the time they came out. Great guitars! Hard to believe I was able to get all but one of them between $650 & $850 back then.
Had a white one back around 1991. Someone had routed a neck Bucker (EMG’s) into it, and put a big old Buckwheat sticker on the armrest. Great guitars - quite heavy!! Lotsa maple I think?
I have one. Probably one of the nicest SS power amps I’ve owned. I love the fact that you have the EQ options as well. Turned up to 9:00 is VERY LOUD. Never had it past noon. I run an FM3 and a Quad Cortex through it, and even some plugins from NDSP via my interface, all into an old Mesa...
I have most of the high gain plugins from NDSP including the MK2, and they are all top notch! Having never personally played a MK2, I can't comment from that corner, but having heard many of them, I think these absolutely do it... "Justice"? ?
While I have quite a few of these, my faves are...
I have the LPS above - “Inspired by G” model. I think I paid $300 for it? Worth every penny! I did put some Hipshot locking tuners on it, which I do with pretty much everything these days, but beyond that, no mods, and it’s probably one of my main players now. I like the burly neck quite a bit...
