RigTalk Library - Rock and Metal Books (Suggestions Needed)

I struggled to get through Runnin with the Devil, only read the first chapter or so. As you said... a bit dark. Weird Scenes Inside The Canyon sounds wild!

    First Pedal Build

Tried making a delay pedal using the PCB kit from Jeds Peds (UK based). Turned out okay I think! Sprayed the chassis emerald green and added pink knobs. Just need to make labels for the controls. It's a pretty gnarly lo-fi delay, really fun to use, hard to tame.

The last KISS show is tonight. Thoughts?

The drum part in the Tears Are Falling chorus just makes it that much cooler. Eric Carr seemed like a really nice guy. "Who Wants To Be Lonely" is another song that I really love, the video is hillariously 80s. Did you ever notice "Reason To Live" sounds like "I Wanna Know What Love Is"? haha

The last KISS show is tonight. Thoughts?

Huge respect for the band. Love reading books about the band. The lore is great! Their non-make up era is extremely underrated. "Who wants to be lonely" and "my way" are special songs to me.

What do you consider modern metal ?

In my head: - 1940-1959 "Origins Era" early black blues, rock n roll, early electric guitar etc - 1960-1979 "Classic Era" the rock sound is created - 1980-1999 "Main Era" guitar is apart of everything from pop to rock, innovations in sounds - 2000-2019 "Modern Era" tradition fades, extra...

    Kiko leaving Megadeth

Dave loves his power metal guitarists. Both Kiko and Teemu (the new guy) are from epic power metal bands. Kiko was amazing in Angra, worth checking out their early stuff, it's a bit musical theater but I like it! Timu plays in Wintersun who do basically hollywood level black metal haha. Wonder...

    NGD: AxeFx.... Ultra?

This logic is why I went from the Ultra, to the Axe2 and then called it a day. Axe2 does all I need. To update would be a lateral step gear-wise, and a bad decision financially. Late stage corporate consumerism doing it's thing. I'm sure the top brass love the concept Fractal GAS haha

Why do people rave about GNR gigs nowadays?

Sadly the times I've seen him live, he's alwyays sounded like this:

Why do people rave about GNR gigs nowadays?

Always been surprised at how sloppy Slash and Axl are. Slash's "shredding" to me always sounds like a 13 year old me shredding pentatonic blue scales haha.

Mike Portnoy back in Dream Theater

Bring back Kevin Moore to replace Rudess, get Petrucci back on the Ibanez / Triaxis combo too and then I'll be interested. I'm also totally happy with bringing back the cheese, it gave it some bombast and character.
