There is some clever use of pitch correction, vibrato enhancement, and limiter/compressor slamming. Not at as obvious as alot of the "Frontiers" records use of it, but it's still there.
Sorta reminds me of seeing any of these old bands do tribute acts to their former selves. GnR, Def Lep, Whitesnake, Motley etc. It's cringey but I get they have divorces, surgery, facial reconstruction etc to pay off haha.
I'd love to ask Don why he still feels he needs to grace us with his "vocals". Does anyone around him tell him that live he looks like a an un-thawing cave man with the voice of asthmatic donkey? Or is it a delusion?
I think they have some onstage cabs for some stage volume? Either that or it's feeding an ISO box cab set up.
I run a Mach 402 under my fractal to get some air moving on stage with a cab, as well as the FOH.
I love how happy this album is. "Feels So good" is such a fun weird song. I've never been to bothered by cold, commercial production of alot of late 80s stuff. Solos are unreal as always.
I have, 2002ish. Wasn't really my thing, never has been, no matter how many people on forums tell me I have to like it haha. Kick and Snare triggers where like fish slapping against a wall and far too loud. Dime's tone fizzy and any form of thump was being dealt with by the bass. I think the old...
Folks said the same about the Melotron, the the ROMpler keyboard. "ahh now anyone can play any sound, musicians will loose their job"
Folks said the same about digital "ahh now you can literally fake all your music and do unlimited takes"
Folks said the same thing about auto-tune and amp sims...
Dime fans must have some serious disposable income to constantly be buying into the nostalgia.
Also never been a fan of the "all slice and no thump" solid state fizz, but then again people are willing to spend thousands to obtain it.
My home preamps are ADA MP-, JMP etc hence the need for an IR box.
Been running stereo for many years, and I defo wont be swapping my ping-pong delays, tri-choruses, acoustic sims, certain reverbs, stereo shaper, etc to mono effects haha. So it's just a case of monitoring it on stage. Carrying...
I currently run a Palmer Macht 402 into a custom 2 x 12 at home which sounds great.
However I'd really like to get an FRFR speaker to use live with my Fractal for stage volume/monitoring, since it will cut out the need for a heavy cab and power amp.
Question 1:
If I was to go this route...

I use a Squire 7-String Baritone with a Floyd Rose live! Popped some SD Invaders in and it's been a reliable shred machine. Only issue is that it's very heavy weight wise. Cost me around 240$ for a mint condition one.
Good luck! The digital mixer can be a total mind fuck haha. That's alot of wattage haha, I just bring a 2x12 since most of the venues are 250 folks max. \m/
