I bought the 5150 3 el34 50 watt. It is nice but doesn't hold up in a band situation unless mixed with another amp. The neck pickup position always sounded weird too. Not warm and kind of phasey or hollow? The gain structure is great but not enough oomph compared to other 50 watters I have tried.

I use midi cc #7 on my gmajor 2 to control the (global volume in) parameter on my g major 2 as I don't like the tone suck that analogue volume pedals introduce in my signal path before the amp. This midi volume control is only possible with a series effects loop with the tc set to kill dry on...

I am loving your Ares videos. Would you say it is possible to dial the Orthos in to have the same evil mids and immediacy of thump as the Ares? Maybe by even running the Orthos at 50 watts by removing the 2 inner tubes? I realize the ohmage drops when removing 2 tubes on a 100 water.

Just bought an Orthos 2. Can't wait!!! I may be selling some amps...... Definitely going to list a ton of high end gear for sale this weekend on the classifieds so I dont have to sell another amp lol. Just sold 1 of my 2 Quickrods a couple weeks ago for recording gear.

The Orthos has my interest with the feel dial aspect. I also wonder if the Orthos or Gemini can get that tight spank feel of the Ares? Man this guy makes great amps!!!

I owned 2 Quickrods 2013 and 2014. You cant go wrong. I too played a mesa rectifier for years then added the Splawn. 3d tone nirvana. I then bought a Friedman which I would never sell. If I had to bring only one amp to a show it would be the Friedman or Splawn. The 2 amp mix is nirvana though...
