Hello RT!!! Long time, eh?
I've been out of it for a while. I went back to school to get a Master's degree, and now I have it. Gotta get back into da brootalz.
What's been going on here? I see nobody has burned the place to the ground yet, so that's a good sign. I've been jamming my Kemper...
A few years ago someone did a cost comparison between the Kemper and a similarly priced multi-channel tube head. Over the course of 10 years, the cost of the Kemper basically equals the cost of new tubes (power every 6 months, pre every 18 months) and the inevitable but infrequent amp repair...

The Powerball II has the great crunch of the original PB and the aggressiveness of the Fireball. If I wasn't a Kemper guy, it would be my #1 gigging amp.
I have owned and gigged 5 Engls and played through just about everything they make. I found the Invaders gain was too harsh, and I love a good modern high gain tone. The Powerball II is my favorite because it does just about everything well, so I vote for that one, even though it's not on your...
I have owned just about every dirt pedal made, including most boutique ones. Seriously - more than 75 distortion pedals over the past 10 years. The Amptweaker line has knocked almost everything else off my board, including by BE-OD (and that is saying something). From your description of your...

I can't believe we still have tone trolls who think that Axe-FX or Kempers are the cause of bad live tone. Anyone who has run large venue live sound or done studio recording knows the culprit for bad tone almost always lies somewhere after the amp.
My oldest son got a last-minute free ticket to see Ozzy last week in Salt Lake. He went and he enjoyed the show, but he got pretty tired of the guitar solos (he's not a musician). Overall, he was surprised how well Ozzy sounded for his age and mileage.
Dude, that's so cool! You're going to have a great time.
I haven't seen Ozzy since the Blizzard of Ozz tour in 1981 in Houston. I can't make it to this one, so I guess my remaining memories of that show will have to suffice.
I lent my KPA out to a friend who wanted to "try before you buy." He says he loves it. I should get it back next week and can then try the profiles. He better give it back, or I'll have to make a midnight raid to reclaim it!
