If this didn't have the Ace Frehley name attached to it & was a new artist, 99% of the people here would say it was a piece of crap & sounded like a weak demo.
I love my heroes too & give them a pass when they put out substandard material, but this is pretty mediocre at best.
I think you should do it.
I like direct mount PUs, but have a few guitars that have rings that, imo, looked kinda cheap.
Add in the matching wood rings & they look sooooooo much better.
Perhaps the light weight makes you think it feels plasticy?
I have several chambered strats that are super light that feel toy & plastic like due to the weight, but they sound great.
Chambered guitars usually have more bass & low end thud imo as well, so who knows.
Someone said Carvin/Kiesel stuff are dead sounding?
I have 4 & they all sound & play amazingly well.
I always set myself up for disappointment before they arrive, since they're so inexpensive & I have a more expensive = better mentality, but they're as good as any guitar I've ever played.
I...
The thing I like about this forum over other ones is the civility, lack of trolls & the fact that religion & politics are kept out.
This guy needs a time out & a refresher on board rules.
I'm thinking about getting an SG was wondering if anyone has tried both the SG Standard & Specials?
The Special looks nicer to me online & is a lot cheaper, but I care more about tone & play-ability.
These look great.
Ibanez is going for a Charvel Govan vibe here imo.
Since they're made in Japan, it's probably going to be a high priced item, most likely in the $2-3k price range.
I have a Yeti 50 & can't say enough good things about it.
It goes from a vintage Plexi tone to hot rodded Marshall tones to a super saturated BE type tones, all for about a $1000.
If you told someone it was a secret boutique builder in the USA & they were charging $5000 for it, they'd be more...
To be honest, this is a guitar made for overdrive & distortion. Even with gobs of distortion & gain, it remains crystal clear & you can hear every note clearly.
The clean tones are a little thin imo, since it's such an even sounding guitar. No one frequency is dominant.
The craftsmanship is...
I got the Arisitdes to try something different.
Everything I have is a Strat, Les Paul or Tele variation so this was something to fend off buying the same thing over & over again.
