I partly agree, but the demand for the axe fx right now seems to be for selling rather than buying. I think some will become frustrated and sell pretty low just because of the glut out of the gate, but I think it'll stabilize after a while and that the units will still fetch a fair amount more...
The glaring difference between your Pentium 2 and the Axe Fx is the Axe is a piece of music gear that emulates guitar tones and has been lauded as already being able to sound very close to many tube amps as well as having extremely high quality effects, and that won't change because there is a...
If you bought one to use for music and it does everything you want, other than the resale value it shouldn't seem like too bad a thing as long as you get out of the axe fx what you bought it for. I know it sucks about the resale value likely going down some, but I doubt it'll be that low.
You probably can't go wrong with either. My MiM HSS strat is an easy to play shredder that IMO sounds decent even with the stock humbucker.
That's a nice-looking guitar. 8)
I noticed the Peavey Ultra Plus I used to have sounded funky with active EMG's as compared to running the same guitar/pickups through other amps. I don't know about those Blackouts but wonder if it might make a difference which amp you're playing them through.
That ^
And that ^.
Life's too short to get caught up into things that can lead to a lot of strife and almost surely means nothing. If you have a difficult time getting it out of your mind, you can always just convince yourself this was just an event you'll file away and only pull it back up...
It's been a while since I read that mod thread, and I may have missed if the answer's already been posted (and may not need it on my amp), but can any of those mods be done on a 6505+?
Alex Lifeson has great results with the Palmer, though the IR ability of the Two Notes Torpedo seems pretty cool. Are they available anywhere in the U.S.?
From my experience, Duncan Distortions handle gain pretty well. IMO the gain is just probably up too high, though an ISP decimator or other noise reduction pedal might help.
My favorite mod is an OD in front, and they can be changed around, eq'd differently, etc., so they're flexible. But I'd probably mod my 2204 that's already fairly beaten up if I had the skills of Vlad, Knucklefux, etc., so I could keep making changes or reverse it if ever desired.
The DiMarzio Breed is a bit too thick for a mahogony PRS-style guitar I have for my preference, but I'm thinking it'd balance out pretty well and may try that in a Mexican HSS strat I have.
