The EL-34II seems to be lacking just the slightest bit of high end “sparkle” when compared to the standard EL-34. Still sounds good, but just a tiny bit duller. Nice playing.

What exactly do you mean by constrained? Is there not enough low end or do the lows just not get deep enough? You tune to drop-d and standard, there’s not going to be really deep deep lows. So yeah I’m confused.

I like the Mesa one best. It seems to have less "harsh" high end.

Also made the switch to Zuul. Thee best gate I've ever used.

I’d hold on to those speakers and just keep an eye out for a used 212 cab. The Mesa 212 or an old VHT are both rock solid choices.
