I have a newer YJM strat (maybe 2014 or so) and it really is a killer guitar. It's the most resonant guitar I have and the neck profile is really comfortable and fast. Only downside is playing open chords, you have to be much more accurate white your fretting fingers. Bar chords are fine though...
Neck feel is more like a modern strat neck than a super thin Ibanez one. I have 2 M-ii / mirage neck-through ESPs and both necks a not exactly the same though so I guess there can be variance. In my opinion there are the most comfortable necks around in terms of shape and width - perfect blend...
I have a LP with Rebel Yells in it and a ESP mirage neck-through (super strat w/ maple neck, alder wings and ebony fretboard) with Miracle Man in bridge.
The Rebel Yell sounds good in the LP, it replaced the stock LP studio pickups (498t + other one i forgot the number of) and sounds good. The...
What I recommend doing is once you found the right balance between the springs/strings and its in tune, DO NOT lock the nut again, play the guitar for a day or two (or just let it sit) with the nut open for the strings to really settle. Try not to use the trem before you lock the nut again and...
Well taking it as a carry-on is not really possible because I'm also bringing 2 guitars as carry-ons... For the tubes, I'm going to take them out and pack them individually in 2 layers of bubble wrap, this is how i received the amp (from Sevenstringer btw, really well packed!) and it seemed...
So I'm moving back to France in September and will be bringing back a good amount of gear with me but my main challenge will be bringing back my Mark IV. I've already travelled with tube heads in the past but didn't really have a good experience and I'm looking to do things right this time. I...
That's what I did, bought it new with a 30 day return policy so I could try it out with my amps and then decide if I wanted to keep it or not. I also though it would just be the perfect solution to have the best tone of the rectifiers at low volume but I ended up returning it.
However, I must...
I had an attenuator (rivera rockcrusher) for a while but I think it doesn't work well with Rectifiers. Attenuators will help you get power tube saturation, and while it can be very desirable with certain amps, it really didn't serve the mesa boogie high gain tone. I had much better results by...
Unforgiving is usually a good thing in my humble opinion, it makes you become a better player and forces you to really dig in the notes to extract the sound you have in you're head, I also feel these amps are more responsive to the player's dynamics and nuances.
Moreover, when you switch to...
His tone on the REH instructional video (highly recommend it btw, you probably won't learn much but it's great to watch) is one of the best strat tones I've heard (for metal/shred), you can hear every note and is incredibly dynamic but still has lots of sustain and punch.
Same here, i think it's due to the fact that the gain is usually set higher on R2 and Lead, so you have to compensate with the master volume for R1. If the R2 and Lead channels are at 2-3 on the MV, I usually set R1 to 6 to have similar volumes with my gain settings.
