After years of use, I still love my Budda! It's one of the older ones though, not sure how much has changed when it was redesigned after Peavey bought them.
I saw Greg play in a club around 1989-1990 with Howe II. It still remains the most devastating display of guitar playing I've ever seen in person. Just amazing!!
It's actually Greg Howe, not McAlpine. The singer was a singer in the local PA/DE/NJ/MD band scene, not a karaoke singer. She's a GREAT singer and very charismatic front. Very cool album, I dig it a lot!!
I've had both the JSX and 6505+ and dig them both and gigged them both for a long time. For me and what I like, I slightly preferred the 6505+. While the JSX was more versatile, I dug the gain tones of the 6505+ a little more. Seemed to have more OOOMPHHH to me, but I could get a killer tone...
I dug 6L6s in that amp a lot more. Sounded bigger and fatter to me that way. I gigged out quite a bit with that amp when I had it and always got a lot of compliments on the tone.
