How do most people approach their rigs for gigs? Always bring a backup amp?
I'm planning on using my powered Kemper>4x12
I guess I could bring my Recto along just in case, but even if there is a powered amp/cab issue, I could hopefully still use the Kemper direct.

Maybe there's something small and portable that is good for emergencies ...how about that micro terror?
My rd50 would have been decent at this application, that thing was surprisingly light

BTW, my gig is at the Hard Rock in Phoenix Friday night. It's a cover band playing hard rock metal that we all know (wish it as originals, but oh well)
Locals feel free to stop by and chat gear, check out the Kemper in action

I have a POD XT live in my truck standing by incase my Ecstasy goes down. All the necsessary patches are already programmed in to replicate my amp and effects.

How is that POD for 4cm? Or just for fx in an amp's loop? That would then give me multiple uses for it then in case I wanted to go with a traditional amp setup

Digitech GSP 1101 with the floor board! Front of house and done! Nice and light, decent tones or add a single or double space power amp of choice and use you cab either way it's easy.

I never tried the 4cm. I did try it in the loop of the Ecstasy and the effects sounded good. No tone loss. I just prefer certain pedals to the effects in the POD...

I've always been curious at that unit, but for backup purposes I'm thinking something super simple, like a small amp/portable POD type of thing.

I bring a Line 6 modeling head just in case. If I know the bands at the show, I don't bother.

I have an extra head, but that's kinda overkill since I don't play out regularly. If I did, I would probably get something more portable, like a POD.

The last couple times I've played out, I brought a 2nd head along.

I'm thinking about picking up the EH 44 Magnum pedal as a back-up in a pinch. I've heard pretty good things about it.

Lots of good ideas in here...I'm out of cash so I'll either risk just 1 head (Kemper) or perhaps bring my Recto along for a backup
I think Randall/Fortin has some sort of pedal thing, the smaller the better for this purpose

You could bring the head and just leave it in the trunk. You don't need to bring it into the club unless you need it.

Won't cost you anything.

Used to use a rackmount recto as a power amp for my Kemper. Also made for a good backup. But after probably 50 or so gigs with the Kemper, I'm feeling pretty good about it. My backup now is a Yamaha DG stomp and I may try it with a two notes CAB pedal.

Crate Powerblock! It always goes with me.

It came in very handy once...and did not sound half bad (well, yeah it did but I doubt anyone noticed).
