LOL I didn't "tear everything out and put into a lie!" :hys:
I quoted your closing statement word for word. And my "requirements" are not higher than normal. They ARE normal. You're lack of experience with SLO's is evident. Now I am truly outa here!
You missed the whole point. I never said anything about the tone. The fact that I owned 2 5150's says heaps about what I think of the tone of a 5150. It is the use of the word "roadworthy" that I completelly disagree with. In the aspects of construction, build quality and roadworthiness, the 2...
First of all , I was traveling on the tour bus and not traveling in the semi with the gear but thanks for the concern . 2nd of all Neither the CCV or any Fortin have the tubes sitting directly on the PCB board which is what I'm getting at. Even the SLO is PCB but all the amps mentioned have...
Cracks in the PCB's for one......... Talk to me when you start doing 200+ gigs a year in a different town every night. Nothing against a 5150. Like I said, I had one as a cheap spare to my 1st SLO. Eventually I just bought a 2nd SLO. Don't get me wrong the old 5150's were great bang 4 the $...
I don't know what road you've been on........... but a 5150 is NOT very roadworthy and I say that from experience. Tubes sitting right on PCB's don't do well when on the road. I'm not talking about your weekend local bar gig either.
I'm on my 7th SLO. I've decided I just need to keep one around. They have something very special and recognizable in the mids. When I go back and listen to tracks I have done in the past, I can always tell the SLO. I personally think they record really well and don't find them one dimensional...
Up to now, I've owned 4 QR's ...... all the older 3 pre tube models. They are good bang for the buck but I have one beef with them and that's hum & noise. I find them extremely noisy to the point where at times they were unusable with a single coil guitar at some gigs. They are better in 2nd...
