    When Tool Was Great

I dunno, I saw them in CLE last year and they were incredible- as was the audio/ visual element. Interestingly, I saw the Eagles there a few nights before- talk about musical whiplash!

    QuickRod+ ANOS Power Tubes= Niiiiiice

What's funny is to me is the stock tubes were just TOO detailed, if that makes sense. Maybe crisp is a better adjective. I wanted a bit smoother on the top end and warmer, and the Teslas were perfect. I was really surprised how much the QR responded to power tubes. I did swap in a pair of JJ...

    QuickRod+ ANOS Power Tubes= Niiiiiice

Plate voltage at full power was 485v, I biased at 34ma. Tried it from 30 up to about 38 and landed right in the middle. I plan on running it a full power with B+ engaged. 50 watts was cool but I liked full power just a bit more.

    QuickRod+ ANOS Power Tubes= Niiiiiice

I picked up a 2017 QR used back in November, and not knowing the history of the amp I decided to pick up some new power tunes. ASFAIK the power tubes were original (Valve Arts with a Splawn sticker on the base), so after 6 years of unknown use I figured it was some good preventative maintenance...

    Buying Time: Amp Suggestions

Splawn QuickRod may be a great option. Killer modded Marshall tones that can cover a lot of ground. Great FX loop too. Look for one with the B+, old/new, half power, and mid cut options so you have the all the flexibility you need.

Post your first guitar of 2023!

Picked this up right after the new year- brand new but it had a partially broken headstock that had been professionally repaired, so I was able to negotiate a significant discount. Dropped a Jalen Fair Warning into the bridge and it's a KILLER guitar!

    NGD- EVH Wolfgang Special

I didn't plan to pull the trigger so quickly, but I picked up a new scratch and dent EVH Wolfgang Special at a substantial discount over the weekend. It had suffered at partial headstock break in shipping but had been well repaired. Played it, verified the repair didn't affect anything, and...

Charvel San Dimas vs EVH Wolfgang Special

Thanks guys. I do prefer a wider 1 11/16 nut width, but I don't really like thin profiles. I have a guitar with a floating Floyd, but a dive only with a D-tuna would be handy. The GC near me has a WG Special in stock so I think I'll take it for a spin tomorrow.

Charvel San Dimas vs EVH Wolfgang Special

I'm in the market for rocker in the sub $1500 tier, and both of these are on my radar. Anyone done a direct comparison?
