Sorry, after you said katana sounds better than the yamaha, I meant does the 5 inch speaker in the boss, sound better tan the Yamaha with its 2.5 inch speakers? Or were you meaning the Katana plugged into a speaker cabinet sounds better than the Yamaha?
Has anyone tried one of the combo versions? Seems like it would be pretty cool for small venues, and practicing at home? Or is it better as a head and small cab?
It does clean up pretty well, especially at low gain levels. With the gain at 10:00, it's fairly low gain, but has sustain like most amps at 3:00.
I've had multiple Mark IIc+, Mark III, and Mark IV, and it'd easiest the best of all of them for playing out. Great amp.
I just have a 101b, but it's my 4th, and I've had 2 classics... I'd want to try another amp.. so I'd sell, then get another. A while back I hadn't played one for a while and the other guitsr player asked... you're not selling that one too are you?? You'd think you'd learn... ;) I'm keeping it.
What is its entire range? Handle medium to low gain well?
Lead tones? Harsh? Compressed? Sound like a mark series? Sound like a recto? Good headroom, even with just 50.watts?
Or just, what's your initial impression?
Thanks for jumping in guys .. I can't wait to hear your thoughts, and see some videos I've never heard a mesa factory demo I liked on any amp looking forward to some decent ones
