They really are a great sounding amp, and can do quite a lot of high gain stuff. I've owned several of them, and even after owning a bunch, this last one nearly got sold for being too Thick sounding until I tried some strange settings with the presence turned up a lot and the treble up higher...

Ive played a few. All were heavy, none were anything special to me. Felt and sounded decent. I also think its kinda funny when people talk about the factory being the original gibson factory.. its the guys working there that built the norlin guitars.

C+ has tons of gain, I love the way they sound, if you need more gain, you can boost it... I'd just stick with that.

Unless this model is different, I think The studios all come with the old 490/498 combo, not the 496/ 500t. If that's the case, they're not all that hot compared to a lot of the suggestions or the emg pickups he has now. Depending on his amp, it may be the lower output pickups that he's...
