PSA - Randall RD45H on the cheap!

Submitted a request for a refund. Seller has more RD45H amps listed, so replacement would be great.

PSA - Randall RD45H on the cheap!

They have confirmed these are brand new unless stated. However they're also asking I contact Randall to see what they recommend. IMO that's what dealers are for, so I've pushed back. Scratches are somewhat hard to explain for a new amp, but the Tolex and bends could be related to a serious drop...

PSA - Randall RD45H on the cheap!

Will do. Scratches are well, scratches, and no big deal. The gouged Tolex, apparently from the chassis, and bent transformer bracket suggest something more significant happened. Amp appears to work, but I'm concerned something may have been weakened by the apparent impact.

PSA - Randall RD45H on the cheap!

Picked up one of this when they were $319. Just opened it and found a decent about of damage. Bent transformer bracket and gouged Tolex. Also a few more minor scratches to the front and back of the chassis. Could have been dropped, remanufactured or combination, including other things. Have sent...

    Tech Help: Clipped Signal

Need a bit of help identifying the cause of clipped signal in the "Lead" channel of a Peavey Classic 50. Have it narrowed down between the 2nd and 3rd stages. Signal looks fine out of the coupling cap (green circle), but missing nearly half of the sine wave out of the voltage divider (red...

    HSS Coil Split Wiring Question

Thanks for the reply. Yes, position 3 is for middle by itself. Posted the same inquiry on TGP and John S himself weighed in. Got a handle on how this can be done, but also the rationale for why it's the way it is in the current wiring. I'm gonna try it out as is and see if I want to experiment...

    HSS Coil Split Wiring Question

Can't figure this one out, hoping someone can help. I'm building an HSS super Strat and want to have a bridge pickup option (position 1) for either the humbucker or the South (#2) coil alone. This would be wired to a push/pull DPDT switched pot. However, in position 2 I want the combination of...

    WTB: Chubtone

Thanks guys, I've seen the one on Reverb. I'll have to get back to their website and look for the green one.

    WTB: Chubtone

Missed the magenta with roasted birdseye neck that sold here a few weeks back. Can't really be more descriptive on the specs, gonna me more of feeling. Please PM the details if you're willing to let one go. Thanks.

EVH5150 III 50 Reducing Gain Red Channel

Agreed, lower gain preamp tubes are by far the easiest and reversible way. You also can try a variety of combinations. V2, V3 and V4 are solely relegated to the RED channel. So you can tweak those without impacting the GREEN or BLUE channels. Try 12AT7 or 12AY7 versions in a couple of those...

    NAD: Original 5150 Block Letter

Heh, thanks. Lots of times I make things were before they get better. I guess that's part of the sick satisfaction. That said, the layout of the 5150III 50W wasn't too bad for making this mod. Kinda crowds the front panel a little, but I don't really care given what's gained.

    NAD: Original 5150 Block Letter

Heh, there are probably lots of Easter eggs in that photo. :-) I modded it to be three discrete channels. The lower set of pots are for the green channel. Could also take that opportunity to voice the green channel tone stack to that of the 100W version. Works fantastically well and makes a...

    NAD: Original 5150 Block Letter

OK, got it in it's new home. Did something I don't normally do, for obvious reasons given the space... connected both 4x12 cabs. Yeah, that sounds alright. Thanks for letting me share.

    NAD: Original 5150 Block Letter

Where are my manners? Pics added above. Thanks for the tube recommendations. Love my tube amps, but to contribute to the ongoing controversy... I'm still digging the Katana as well.

    NAD: Original 5150 Block Letter

Not really in the market, and almost walked right by one in a local shop. Irrespective of whether the block letter vs script thing is voodoo or not I find myself passing up script logos, but made an offer on this block letter. Got it for at really good deal. Didn't even bother to play it in the...

Modeling might be on my horizon...

Definitely. Picked up the head myself. This is a really well conceived and executed piece of gear. Sounds great through a variety of cabs. Worth considering.

    So I got an amp....

Willing to give it a shot. Heads $349 everyplace? Any coupons or discount codes from any of the usual suspects?

    Problem with a 5153 50 watt

Swap V2, V3 or V4 into V5 and V6 (one at a time). If channel 2 is now fine then you know it was either V5 or V6.
