FOH Mix & Stage Volume: Amp/Cab Placement or Reactives?

So... everything was good with great feedback from the crowd and soundmen... ...then you turned down your volume and now you’re unhappy... ...if you weren’t being told to turn down, why not turn back up? IMO, too many people want to treat FOH like it’s a stereo system. Get a good stage mix...

Anyone else find Interface DI's hot?

If I remember correctly, the Radial has a transformer in it that’s meant to subtly saturate and warm the sound up a bit vs an active DI.

Axess Electronics out of business-HUGE BUMMER

They already have. I think they started off with some easy buffer projects and have now put out a midi A/B/Y and a midi head switcher. https://mesa-boogie.imgix.net/media/Sig ... Setup6.jpg http://mesaboogie.com/signal-management ... outer.html

Axess Electronics out of business-HUGE BUMMER

You could try giving Mesa a call. Mario works for/with them now and they may be able to hook you up.

    Hello RT

Update #2 I found a GCX/Ground Control used at a fairly significant discount... I’ve wanted one of these for probably... 15 years, but the cost:benefit ratio never tipped in its favour until now. I’m surprised at how much functionality I’m getting out of it. I knew it would reduce tap...

GCX/Ground Control vs Boss ES vs Line 6 floor multi

I went for the GCX/Ground Control. Price was the deciding factor... used unit with no signs it had ever been rackmounted and only two patches programmed into it, and at a price I’m unlikely to loose money on should I sell it. The other options will still be there should this not work out...

    Hello RT

It’s pretty cool. Everything I like about one amp... only there’s two of them.  On a side note, I kept trying to blend the gain levels by running one amp at my ideal level, then running the other amp a little bit cleaner thinking it’d give me more definition, but the results were...

    Hello RT

Update #1 This thing sounds killer. I should’ve done this years ago. My first good amp setup was a Rectifier Preamp into a 2:100 power amp. I traded it away years ago because I got bored wanted to experiment with new ideas, eventually going back to a Rectifier, but I’ve never been able to...

GCX/Ground Control vs Boss ES vs Line 6 floor multi

Do the ES cause ground loops if only used into the front end of the amp? I’m looking at using a separate delay in the loop and won’t be running any cables from the loop to the ES.

GCX/Ground Control vs Boss ES vs Line 6 floor multi

Regardless of which route I choose I’ll likely want to use a dedicated/analogue wah and overdrive pedal. Does the ES have tap tempo? If I go this route I would only use the ES in front with a separate delay in the loop, and I’d need the ability to send tempo from the ES to the delay.

GCX/Ground Control vs Boss ES vs Line 6 floor multi

I can pick up a used GCX/Ground Control locally for a pretty good price, but I’m weighing my options. My amp has midi built in. My needs are pretty straight forward. I want to be able to run basic effects in front of the amp (wah, vibe, phase, chorus, maybe some other stuff if I get bored)...

    Hello RT

8ohm speakers are wound different than 16ohm. I think one gets more windings of a thinner wire, but I can’t remember which one. With V30s, I find the 16ohm versions sound brighter than the 8ohm. To me, that extra top end makes the 16ohm version sound a bit more scooped than the 8ohm version...

    Hello RT

I’ve tried running two different amps in the past (Marks, Recto, Electra Dyne, etc) and I’ve never really liked the results. What I gained in thickness I lost in focus, and I never really liked the feel of trying to play two different rigs simultaneously. It obviously works well for others and...

    Hello RT

It’s been awhile. If I remember correctly the last time I hung out here someone was having a mental breakdown and the forum was imploding. It seems to have settled down now... Anyway, I recently traded in some unused gear and picked up a second TC-50. I’m probably going to have some...

    Duncan JB

I have a JB that’s been installed in probably 5 or 6 different guitars and I hated it in all of them except the last one. In some of them the low end felt like a sponge. In others the midrange wasn’t right. I really didn’t see what people liked about the JB. Then a couple years ago I stuck it...

EVH 5150 III 50 6L6 vs Mesa TC50 vs Dual Rec 3 Channel?

As a long time Recto user that owns a TC-50... the TC is more versatile. IMO, the Recto could never really do convincing old school sounds. It could get close, but was usually a bit too stiff/sterile when the gain was turned down. This is where the TC has the advantage. In normal mode...

Tonal issue need some help please

Easiest way I’ve found to deal with too much rasp on a Recto is to dial the tone knob on your guitar back to 9.5 or 9. I’ve found trying to dial it back on the amp dulls the harmonics too much and get better results dialling it back on the guitar. Takes some edge off the attack while still...
