I got the Suhr Reactive Load IR earlier this year. I'm not sure I'll record a real cab ever again tbh!!
I've tried the Two Notes Reload in the past; didn't like it as much from memory.
Wow. This is an old thread. So I did actually get a VH4 in the end.
In total I own:
Diezel VH4
Diezel D-Moll
Marshall JVMHJS (The Satriani version)
Orange Rockerverb MKIII
VHT Sig:X
So.... D-Moll versus VH4. They sound quite different from one another, but still within the same family...
My VHT SigX cost me £750, my Diezel D-Moll £1000, VH4 £1280, and my Orange Rockerverb MKIII cost me £1600. But that's over several years, and cycling various amps and pedals to pay for them. Not rich by any means but godamn I love amps!!
The only one I bought new is the Orange. Although I did...
Albums can be heard at: www.bridgedisaster.co.uk
The other amp was a Laney VH100R.
Our last single, Truth Escapes, was all Diezel. The D-Moll, VH4, and Hagen.
Basically any of the amps listed are epic and well worth having.
I have a VH4 and a Sig X. The Sig X is very different to the VH4, in fact I can't really think of an amp that sounds like the Sig X does. It is it's own beast.
The Sig X is tight and refined sounding, definitely has tons of mids. It doesn't have a boomy low-end, and the high-end is very smooth...
Just not very good tones full stop man, sorry to say. Please take that constructively.
Ola Englund has a good tutorial on how to mic a cab. Also don't bother with double tracking or anything like that. Just one track of the same performance through each amp without moving the microphone...
I bought a matched quad of gold lion kt77's and one of them failed within 6 months. I've just ordered a quad of JJ KT77's because we're tracking soon and I want to use the VH4 a fair bit for that.
Just no way to really tell if you're buying something that's going to die within 3 months or not...
I'd love a 3-4 channel Rockerverb, something along the lines of the monster high-gain heads like the 5150III, VH4, etc.
But I don't see them doing it. It's not really their pedigree as far as I can tell.
My MKIII Rockerverb is one of my favourite amps. Coupled with a Boss ES-5 and a handful of...
Not really my experience tbh. I've been to their offices, tried out a ton of amps, chatted to them, had a cuppa tea. Had good tech support with them. And their amps are built very well.
I love Diezel amps, but Oranges aint no slouch!
