Hey, I know this thread is a bit old. But I own the VH4 and Rockerverb MKIII 100-watt. The Rockerverb is great, no question. But the gain channel is not really in the same genre as the VH4. The VH4 is tighter and more immediate sounding when you play palm-mutes. The Rockerverb is out and out...

I love the D-Moll I have, and apparently the D-Moll is a sort of spiritual successor to the Herbert. The VH4 is damn sexy too. And I like the Hagen my bandmate plays as well.

Hold up Sir... what??? This amp can do Hagen, Herbert, D-Moll, VH4, etc... all in one box??? :confused: :confused: :confused: :confused:

They're quite different to me. VH4 sounds more classic and vintage. Hagen sounds modern and aggressive, bit more scooped sounding. My bandmate has a Hagen and I often want it!

Been a big fan since Remission! Crack the Skye and Emperor of Sand are my two favourite albums at the moment. Leviathan will always be an epic album too.

Just pondering it really. There is a very clear tonal and dynamic difference between these two amps. The VH4 has tons of clarity and snap, particularly on palm-mutes, but it doesn't have a HUGE low-end. The lows are there, they're just very controlled. The D-Moll has a massive low end. It's a...

I've got a D-Moll and a VH4. My bandmate has a Hagen. We tested them all side-by-side. They're all amazing amps. The Hagen has a bit more of a aggressive sound in the high-mid's, the VH4 sounds smoother. The D-Moll is quite close to the Herbert as I remember it.

Try putting your Boss tuner in the effects loop but *BEFORE* the volume box you've got. This will tell you if an additional buffer will help or not. I have to say though, I'm incredibly skeptical that these in-line volume "attenuators" do anything more than making your gain staging more difficult.

It might've had tube issues. I have no problem getting a nice tight tone from any of the Diezel amps, even without a boost.
