Sounds like another great amplifier! I'm gonna hold out for the preamp though ;), as it fits my current needs a little better. Can't wait to hear some new clips of Hagen, and eventually das preamp :D

I usually just play plugged straight into my VH4 or Schmidt but I do bust out some pedals occasionally, namely a Zvex Fuzz Factory (I also have a Box of Rock but am looking to sell it as I have no need for it) and KH-95 and 535Q v1 wahs. I use a Gmajor2 through my serial loop for my effects...

Alrighty, the key (unfortunately, it seems) is you don't try to record the sound you have when playing in a room. You mic the sweetspot of your speaker and eq the amp to taste using the recording as your basis for tone, not what's coming out of the speakers. Great tutorial video here...

Roll your bass knob back (to say, noonish) and increase your depth value to strike a good all round low-end balance, then experiment with increasing your presence values. I feel the VH4 has quite a bit of treble in it (atleast with my guitars/speakers), so you shouldn't have much trouble...

I'm DEFINITELY on board! I've been after a rackmount Diezel for recording instead of having to use my VH4 preamp unfortunately while the poweramp still runs. Of course, I'd be blasting it through said VH4, or the Schmidt for that matter also. Can't wait!

Oh I agree berni, I've nothing but good things to say about Peter S. Very nice guy, works his arse off too. I wasn't complaining, :). I'm looking forward to getting back in contact with him when I have my herbie dollars again

Yeah ive not heard from him in a couple months. I was in talks with him about buying an mk2 Herbert. He was getting my shipping quote together and I never heard back from him. Unfortunately, all that money I had saved for herbie is gone now due to a family emergency ;(. So it was meant to be...

I bought both my Vh4 and Schmidt through YouTube videos basically. There weren't many good sounding vh4 clips on youtube though so I had to go on a fair bit of faith... it paid off in droves in the end ;). Will buy diezel unseen again with no hesitation.
