What to choose? Boss Katana Amp, Tube Amp or else

I like the Boss Katana a lot and would recommend it to myself as what to buy if I was looking for an inexpensive amp nowadays. FYI, I may be selling my Katana head (with built in speaker) soon and I am in North New Jersey too.

    How do you define virtuoso?

In tune bends. Vibrato in time with music. Play perfectly in the pocket (including playing ahead and behind the beat ON PURPOSE). Picking hand and fretting hands synchronized with each other. By the way... we ALL can achieve these things with practice and focus

Looking for a light weight guitar

Varies from guitar to guitar, the last one I had sounded the best but, was 8 lb 2 oz which is heavy for an S. Most weight in the low 7 lb range though. Yamaha made some lightweight guitars (RGXA2) about 10 years ago but I don’t think they sounded as good as guitars that weren’t built with...

    What are the biggest-sounding 2x12's?

Why downsize at all. Get a DV Mark 4X12 that only weighs 50 lbs. if not, port City 2X12 OS Wave, Mesa 3/4 back 2x12 and the standard Bogner 2x12 are great cabinet choices For big sounding 2x12’s.

Dimarzio Pickups in my Les Paul Traditional

Steve’s Special is cool but, also consider the Transition. It has A LOT of clarity and enough gain.

    Dimarzio Pickups

Haven’t tried with liquifire but, have mine with an Air Norton. Love that combo. I must say that if you don’t like the Steve’s Special... flip it around. I was going to swap back to a Tone Zone before I flipped mine. Didn’t like it the other way. Great prog hard rock/metal tone in my opinion.

Took the plunge on an Ibanez J. Custom on Reverb.. thoughts?

I have 3 J. Customs. One of them has an Ultra neck profile. I wish they all came with that neck profile. I’d own more if they did well... maybe it is a good idea Ibanez keeps sticking Wizard neck shapes on these then  otherwise I’d own more  Enjoy it! You will love it!

    buying guitars before playing them

Probably 60% of the guitars I’ve purchased over the past 20 years were bought online whether it be from various online forums, eBay or Musician’s Friend. Less than 10 have been either sonically not for me or not made me happy in terms of adjustability of setup. So my luck’s been good in that...

    Anderson H3+, too hot?

    Marshall MF 280 Input?

My story with MF280’s. I bought one on clearance from GC without plugging it in years ago. Decided to sell it about a month later as I had enough cabs. Same day buyer was coming to pick up, I plugged into it to make sure everything was cool and... it was TOO cool... it sounded REALLY GOOD and I...

school me on the mesa triaxsis

I still have a rack with a Furman Power Conditioner, a Mesa V2 TriAxis, a Rocktron Xpression, and a 2:90. I loved that setup. Recorded a CD back in the day (about 10 years ago) with it and gigged with it. Later on I got some great sounding heads and chose to leave the 80 pound (which was as...
