We really shouldnt ask Dave questions about his clients gear

No, I don't want Brads secret settings :m17: Already got them :rawk: ...I must of been bored between our bands first and second set when I wrote that. The two strippers dancing in the front of the stage must have gave me memory loss........ ... I really wanted to know what color tape Malcolm...

Clip Inside - Been On A Jake E Lee Kick Lately

Jakes a great player. Nicely done. One of my friends got to jam with Jake when he was on the Ultimate Sin tour in Glen Falls NY. His band (double cross) was playing near by, and Jake and the bass player(forget his name) came into the club where they were playing. He hung out with Jake the next...

if you still gig with a 412 cab, why?

Nothing sounds like a 4 x 12 . Plus if the soundman tries to make your amp sound like a rockman, you can use stage volume. I use at least 1 - 4 x 12 with the band.... Most clubs are so small we can only fit 1- 4 x 12 per guitar player on the stage.

We really shouldnt ask Dave questions about his clients gear

Hey, its all cool.... But actually it can be out of line asking it, and thats what I'm trying to explain here. To you and I what someone used in 1979 seems trivial, and why would they care if we were told the answer, but it may not seem trivial to some of his clients. These clients are how...

hey Guys, I did a quick sound clip of my Voodoo V-Plex and posted it on youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exSdhMJOEvI I wanted to do a clip of just the amp, the 4 x 12 cab, guitar and a SM57. Nothing else. This way someone can get an idea of what just the amp is gonna sound like both...

    Voodoo V-Rock Van halen 1 sound(first album)

Hi Nitro, Obviously, I'm a big fan of Traces amps. I heard one of his amps in 2005 and have now dumped all my Mesa amps, for two Voodoo amps, a 50 watt V-Plex, and a 50 watt V-Rock plus a Marshall 100Watt SLP 1959(that I'm planning on sending to Trace to be worked on to sound more like my...

Post Your Main Gigging Guitar Rig!!!

Really depends.... At least the two Voodoo amps and one 4x12. Its enough for any club, plus the stages are so small now. nothing like the clubs in the 80s. If needed for outdoor gigs, I have another 4 x 12 and a Marshall 100 watt 1959 SLP.

How often do you change your output tubes?

I'm with the other answers of, " my ears usually tell me". You'll start changing your settings to compensate, which is a sign you need to change them. If I miss those signs, one will die in the middle of a gig. Guess its why I like multiple amps live, and I keep spare tubes with me. Tubes are...

Trace, can you explain the Bias #s and the tube relationship

Hi Trace, Thanks for the response. I guess this is the reason I don't use other tubes, and I've stuck to just using Groove Tubes. I put tubes in, have it biased, and then keep the same GT numbers and don't have to worry about it.

Amp bias numbers and the Tube current numbers?

Hi Jerry, Thanks for attempting to explain this to me. I have two Voodoo V-plex amps. On the back Trace put a sticker that says "amps bias set at 30mA on 04/09". The tubes in the amp are the Svetlana EL34s. I wanted to get a set of back up tubes to bring with me to the gigs. Is the B+ voltage...

Amp bias numbers and the Tube current numbers?

So both numbers need to be close then. Thanks for going over this I cant find this info anywhere. The part that is driving me crazy is, they put those numbers on the tubes, then you look at the spec sheet, and I can't even find them anywhere. So what is the spec sheet for? Shouldn't the spec...

Trace, can you explain the Bias #s and the tube relationship

Hi Trace, I've been using only Groove tubes since the early 80s and I'm trying to understand the numbers written on the tubes and how it relates to the amps bias you put on the back of my amps. My Voodoo V-plex's have stickers on the back from when you biased the amps. Its got the date, and...
