Well I tried getting that strong midrange Rockman sound and didn't get very far. Parametric EQs really are a Pandora's Box. I was able to approximate the MarkIV's graphic EQ, but doing opposite sounds was a lot more difficult than I thought.

I think it depends a lot on the speaker/s than just the amp, particularly when you want that thump and chug. If you can get a clean combo amp that has a pair of solid powerful speakers, then a high gain pedal into it could work quite well.
